now i have seen the official nintendo s-video cable on play asia and i really want it coz i don't have the luxury of component but really don't like composite and scart disagrees with my amp. is there any reason these cables wouldn't work on a pal wii?

Remember nintendo disabled s-video on pal cubes. so it's entirley possible they have screwed us this time too.

It's looking seemingly like having a Pal Wii means..

1. no freeloader at all. Like the pearl white pal GC, nintendo seem to have purposely made the freeloader even the very latest which is advertised as wii compatble unable to boot.

2. no s-video, not 100% sure, but seeing as though they are NOT going to release s-video cables in europe and past evidence really paint a picture that isnt painted via s-video

3. VC games of varying quality. Some nice NTSC versions, but the majortiy are the baddly ported Pal versions.

4. Waiting.... Yep as much as the cube was a pain, it looks like Pal territories are going to continue to have to wait 3-12 months for big name NTSC games to make it to Europe, and with no way of importing them to run on our wii's (as yet)

The joys of Pal & Europe

But are they badly ported when they are exact replicas of their original versions?

I agree though. NoE screws us over and over. I mean Final Fantasy 3 DS, coming in Q2 2007.
Then again Sony bully us too. 9 months for the PSP to come out here? Worldwide launch? etc. MS seems to be nice to us, though they did restrict HD output from PAL Xbox's.

If we got screwed in the first place with bad ports then yes :)

Yeah they are the 1 company who really hvave got their ***** together this generation.
Near simulatneous releases between US & Europe and all games 60hz (well the benefits of HD allow that and make the difference releativly mute). Region Free gaming for the most part too...

The only reason I import still is games from PlayAsia are €35-40 as opposed to €65-70 at retail here.

Nintendo really need to wise up to Europe otherwise they may find themselves still struggling in third position, but then at least they have a console out... What's going on at Sony HQ is a different thing entirely ;)
