The 80's are as confusingly embarassing now as the 70's were during the last decade, but they'll be the next fashion style to come back!

Oh gawd, if I had to pick one decade of fashion to forget, it would be the '80s.
Blech.

Although I see the 'retro' trend continuing, I think a pure 80s fashion revival won't be happening soon. Its kind of hard to feel nostalgic about quite a few of the fashions or styles.
I think that certain items will return, but with more taste than what we saw in the 80s.

80s fashion almost destroyed my childhood. Just look at me! I can't go through it again... Nooooo!
EDIT: Oh well, the scary pic never showed up...

if you were around to wear it the first time...
you can't wear it when it comes back.

It will subtly change, but there's only so much you can do with a pair of pants.
Rule of thumb is:
If you're old enough to remember fashions the last time they came around, you shouldn't wear them this time..

I'm sticking with my Levis for now. Although not good for every occasion - they've survived many decades without going out of style or changing all that much. :D

Actually, it's my screw-up. This was supposed to be a reply to the iTunes4 debut numbers (there was a context!).
Back in the 80's & early 90's, the 70's were ridiculed pretty severely for design across the board - clothes (wide collars!), hair (perms!), cars (the Pacer), typefaces (Bellbottom!), appliances. The 70's were considered so awful that many parents cannot fathom how their kids are drawn back into the same poor decisions that their generation made. On the other hand, the parents can now subtly smile at the realization that in another 15 years, their progeny are going to be slapping themselves in the forehead wondering what the heck they were thinking... just like Hammer does when he sees these old pics... - j

Very true. However, let's not forget there were faddy additions to the jeans lines that came and went.
I still remember razor-blading a new pair of Acid-washed jeans so I could "look cool" in high-school.
What was it about high school? Every decision a life-or-death, every event - a possible doomsday.

One thing was the 80's in the US and the 80's in Europ and other countries, while there was Madona in the US there was Falco or Kraftwerk, they were not bad at all.
In music the European side of the 80s still a good school like Pet Shop Boy, in the US everything was so overrated and extremly corny.
You may mention Michael Jackson but if you want to get really sick just remember Paula Abdul, I can handle things in life but that is asking too much, I saw a video of her not to long ago and I was so a shame of being humman.
Any way, the 80's are not comming back just like that, just some "80s air" will be taken. There were a lot of good things.
As long Apple doesn't desing some 80s style new iMac averything will be fine.

As bad as Hammer pants were, I thought the worst was wearing Members Only jackets with the sleeves pushed up. What were we thinking?

Ahh the eighties. I am a child of the eighties. I still listen to eighties musice. In fact, I heard Milli Vanilli yesterday on one of the itunes stations. Full volume, of course:D .
Lest we forget-
Colorado Hiking boots
Spandex (on pretty girls anyway :D ) I knew a guy who wore it, and we laughed at him.
Oshkosh overalls
"feathered" hair
