View Full Version : Today is the greatest day of my entire life

Ok, so as the title of the thread indicates, today is the greatest day of my entire life. In the past 9 hours I have been hired at Best Buy (cheap hardware, woo hoo!), become a Demi-God, AND received my new DP GHz tower and 20" Cinema Display (it's way better than I ever thought possible). The kicker is that my iPod arrived with the computer!!!!! :D:D:D

Ok, so if you can't tell I'm excited enough to dance around my house, which I promptly did upon successful boot. ;) This thing is WICKED fast, people. I always thought X was plenty fast enough on my 450 Cube, but this thing is a monster. Well I'll stop bragging now. Just wanted to share this day with you guys. Thanks for listening! :)

I know we're not supposed to be materialistic and all of that, but the rush from getting cool new stuff is great.

And you got it in time for the weekend.

Ra! :D

who isn't suppossed to be materialistic?

I love getting cool new stuff, and love to plan on getting more. I dont want a lot of stuff, but I want those expensive cool toy...uh, tools.

Like the 20" display....I've been trying to figure how I can "afford" one so that I can have dual monitors....

I got laid last night, so I'm having a good day too. But I'd trade that for a new iPod any day...

Yeah, so I'm not quite sure how my sexual experience came into this, but I'll try to be classier than yzedf and just not comment on that anymore. Thanks for the support, Rower. :)

The new iPods are really incredible. They're so much sleeker and cleaner than the pics on Apple's site. I was not a fan of the renders on Think Secret or LoopRumors, and I really didn't think the Apple pics were that great either. It's just so elegant in person. I honestly think it's an improvement over the previous models. It really is amazing. The new solitare game is fun, too. ;)

Ok, so I said I wasn't going to comment on yzdef's post, but my girlfriend wishes to make a comment. Here she is (in italics).

**** you. It's none of your damn business how much Will gets laid but let me assure you that he does with some regularity. Asshole.

Sorry about that. I wouldn't usually let someone else post on my account, but she doesn't really mind that I spend a good bit of time here so I figured I'd do her this one favor. She's usually a sweet girl, but she turns into a very bitter woman when she's angry (kind of like a wet lemur or something). :)

I have what I refer to as the "area of hysteria" where if anyone (including my entire family, friends and girlfriends) come close to the 17in PB, I start sweating and act a little posessive.

Letting people type on it is completely out of the question so I can understand why you didn't let your girlfriend type that;)
Oh, and touching the screen is grounds for fighting!

Dude, if I own it, I am like that. The ex has had her ibook for a few months (800 combo) and it has been dropped 2 times, and one time something was dropped on it, DENTING THE TRACKPAD. Needless to say... she never got hands on with my laptop.

I totally understand where you're coming from on that. I've got nearly $4000 worth of hardware that came out of my paycheck, and I'll be damned if anybody but me is going to get the chance to break it. ;)

Congrats to you, wsteineker. Now, this is off topic, but not as badly off topic as the previously off-topic off-topicness. Why did you choose the phrase wet lemur???? I took an anthropology course once where the professor explained the theories of how species might have migrated among continents. We learned about the theory that the first lemur arrived in Madagascar after making an accidental ocean crossing on a log. The professor finished by saying "that must have been one wet lemur!" The image that invoked made the class laugh, and the phrase has been a joke in the family ever since.

The post by your sweet girl/bitter woman had us monkey-howling with laughter. Maybe yzedf's comment was out of line, but your response accidentally set off the fun times at our house, and I hope that spreading good cheer adds to your already-great day.

P.S. Here's a video game review (http://www.opposablefangs.com/loadtime/reviews/XBOX/newlegend.html) that also contains the phrase "wet lemur" for unknown reasons.

P.P.S. Because lemurs make us laugh, I have two stuffed lemurs purchased at zoo giftshops. One is named Robert E. Lemur and the other is named Gypsy Rose Lemur.

Edit: I found a photo to go with my comments:

I love wet lemurs and I'm not ashamed to say it!

Do you prefer ring-tailed or ruffed? I like both, but preferably dry, not wet. Sharp teeth, beady little eyes, creatures of the night... what's not to love?

I made a donation to sponsor a ring-tailed lemur at the Los Angeles Zoo. I've got a nice Wildlife Savers Fund certificate on the wall right here next to my Mac.

As long as it's a member of the Lemuridae family, I'm in lemur heaven. I mean, how can you limit yourself to just one genus?

Doctor Q
May 3, 2003, 01:47 PM
There are about 10 species of lemurs, but I thought Lemur was the only genus in the Lemuridae family. Do they have cousins I don't know about?

That reminds me. When I was a kid, I had a lemuridae stand. We'd squeeze the lemurs to get the juice out and sell it for 10 cents in little Dixie cups. Or maybe that was lemonade from lemons. I sometimes forget which is which.

I found a family tree:

http://www.sunysb.edu/doit/icte/Mammals/LemurTaxonomy/

So the other genera (genuses) in family Lemuridae are Hapalemur, Eulemur, Varecia, and Pachylemur.

Some of Robert E. Lemur's relatives have been disowned: Pachylemur is extinct. Somebody apparently made lemonade out of the last one.

Well I should start by saying that the Best Buy here hasn't opened yet, and training starts next week. I'll let you know what it's like then. I'll be working in the computer department as a senior sales associate, which basically means I'll be the chief bitch. Should be fun. ;)

As for the PowerMac, it's going to get heavy use as a web design station. Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks are all MUCH smoother on this machine. I really can't believe the difference. It's also my main machine, so word processing, e-mail, and web surfing are all in order. And porn. Lots of porn. :)

As for Saturday being as good as Friday, it was pretty fair. My little sister graduated from college today, so I got to see that AND get a free lunch from Dad. That, and I got to see X2, which ROCKED MY ASS OFF!!!!! So yeah, today was good. I'm thinking of sleeping in and skipping church tomorrow so as to keep this awesome streak going. ;)
