We just finished up our families entertainment room in our basement and it rocks! 5.1 surround sound, Velodyne sub-woofer, High-definition projector for the movies, even stadium seating! The only thing that it is missing now is a collection of movie posters to hang on the walls. My ideas so far are:
The Wizard of Oz
Back to the Future
The Matrix
Terminator 2
Star Wars
Creature from the Black Lagoon
God's Army
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Jaws
The only problem I'm having is I can only pick seven. So what do you think? Pick your favorites from my list or add some that I haven't thought of. Thanks!

I think those movies are great, but I want posters that are good looking as well. Take Full Metal Jacket for example, the poster is a helmet that says "Born to Kill" on it. Sure, it speaks the movie, but I think it pails in comparison to Marty McFly checking his watch after taking a ride in the Delorean. Classic.

You need a good Hitchcock poster to complement the rest of them.

No man, you need a LOT of cool Hitchcock posters. My personal favorite is the Italian version of the North by Northwest poster. That's the era when movie posters were art. Try some cool Fellini posters too. Maybe 8 1/2 or something like that. Good luck with the setup, man. It sounds really cool. :)
P.S.-You can get a lot of good posters from Movie Posters.com (http://www.movieposters.com). They've got an excellent selection and good prices.

Why only seven? You can get more and swap them when you feel like it. Right?

Well, OK.

If you hadn't already guessed it, my dad is an engineer and loves building things from scratch. We even made our own Monster Cable for the component video!

Is there a theme of fantasy and science fiction that you're trying to go for, or more general posters? I think that now you have a great new space to watch movies it, the best compliment to that space is to honor the ones who made the greatest contributions to the cinematic experience...that is, the directors.
Since so many great films are from the directors' minds, I would have representation from each of the great directors...as mentioned before, Hitchcock, Kubrick; also Woody Allen, James Cameron, Coppola, George Cukor, DeMille, John Huston, Victor Fleming (one of my faves, David Lynch), Martin Scorsese and, of course, Ridley Scott.
It's hard to be limited to 7 or so with such a rich and diverse body of work, but if I were in such a position, I wouldn't dream of not including having at least:
Wizard of Oz
Bladerunner
Psycho
Gone With The Wind
Annie Hall
2001
I envy your task, and wish you well. What a hell of a fun assignment! :)

Awesome, you don't know how lucky you are to have a dry basement! It's very professional looking, great to have a dad that a professional! ;)
If you wanted to have more than 7 posters, couldn't you make some kind of a storage area for the extra posters! Maybe in the laundry room. ;)
