Hey everybody. My mom just order herself a new Macbook, and gave me her old iBook G3. I have no real use for it, so I'm reselling it. I figured I'd try MR before eBay, so here ya go.

This has been rarely moved around, and has lived on a desk almost all of its life, plugged in. It's in really good shape, with no major blemishes or scratches. Looks great!

Specs:
12" iBook
700Mhz G3
640MB RAM (128+512)
20GB HD
OS 10.2 Jaguar
All original disks, and a 65W power adapter
CD-ROM
Airport-ready (no card)

It has recently gone in for repairs as the screen died, and they replaced the inverter cable and inverter itself.

Lots of photos:

I'm not sure what a good price for this is, so I figured I'd ask... $350? Feel free to PM me if you have an offeror think I'm crazy for selling it for so much/so little.

Thanks!

Looks to be in great condition. I wish I was in need for an iBook! Anyways, where did you get the screen replaced?

I didn't get the whole screen replaced, just the inverter board and cable. It was done by a certified Apple tech at a local store in KS, where my mom lives.

IDK if the new screen cable might bring up the value, but my brother's G3 is the same, but it has a 30GB HD and Airport and we bought it off eBay for around $200. If this was up before Christmas, I would've taken this :o .

Good luck!

Dadgum. That was a quick jump from "hey, does anyone here want this?" to "hey, it's on eBay now."

I'm in the market for an iBook. I think $350 is a tad high for a G3, but you may very well get what you want on eBay.

Good luck with it!

If it had an airport card in it, it would have been snapped up within an hour of posting at that price and that condition.

I don't think $350 is too high for a 700 with maxed out ram and pristine cases. They make great second computers and that market is hot right now.

My 2 cents. :p

Good luck with the sale!

Dadgum. That was a quick jump from "hey, does anyone here want this?" to "hey, it's on eBay now."

Yeah, I did that since I needed to move this quicker than I thought it would move on here. Plus, for some reason everyone seems to assume that this is a feeler thread, so they're all posting what they think this is worth, rather than making legit offers. Kind of irritating, but whaddya gonna do.

It's already bid up to $200! 5 days left! Free shipping for MR members! Woo!

Sorry - I think I started that when I responded to cordless drill's comment on price. :p .

You'll get your price if it's up to $200 already. I sold a clamshell (yes, clamshell!) for $405 the other day. Freaky. Best of luck!

I would have to argue that clamshells are a different story. There is nothing like it on the market in the US. The only thing that rivals the design is the ego which is VERY expensive. They're collectables while iBook G3s aren't because there design is easily found.

It doesn't have an airport card. The end.

$199 is an encouraging start, though. Good luck.

Well, I hate to bump, but yeah, I'm a-gonna. The auction closes in about 20 hours, so if anyone here is interested in this iBook, go bid now, or miss an awesome laptop. It's only at around $255 right now, which ain't too bad, I don't think.

And remember - free shipping to MR members if you identify yourself as such when you pay! (include your username, too, please)

It should have a bit of a run right at the end. Good luck!

My sister has an identical system, save with an Airport card. I'm glad to see that it's holding its value.

I had one of those iBooks, the quality of the plastics, and the overall feel of the computer was WAY better than the G4 iBooks.

i miss it sometimes... G/L with the sale!

Thanks everybody - it finally closed for $335, though not to a MR member, it seems :(

Trust me, I would have LOVED to have had that, and I watched it to the end just to see the closing price. But it was about $150 out of my price range. I was looking for and found a cheap iMac for my younger kids for an internet hub.
