well if you're really planning on rendering it inopperable, you could donate it to a highschool or something instead. an lcd imac would be infinitely nicer than any computer most schools would have.

or you could put it in your car. ithere may be a way to draw enough power from the battery, and i bet you could manage to seperate the lcd, extend the cables, and put the screen somewhere convenient. keyboard and mouse, too (or a keyboard with built-in trackpad)

you should give it to a school, though. or to me. i'm still in school. college, at least.

you could donate it to the GWVALCDiF. I think they (hee hee) would greatly appreciate it. :D :D :D

P.S. GWVALCDiF = Give William Vogel An LCD iMac Fund

I would also suggest donating it to a non-profit organization such as a church or school. That way someone could make good use of your iMac. If you are opposed to donation, I also think because of the modern design it would make a nice decoration! ;)

Take out the LCD guts and create a giant ant farm.

Or, if you remember those things you could get at Spencer's Gifts at the mall, you could create one of those sand sculpture objects.

Or you could take out the guts of the dome, put in a pump and small water supply, run a tube up the arm, and have a soothing waterfall run down the front in a sheet action like you see sometimes.

I think that those are great suggestions. Might be interested in one of those myself, but will have to wait till someone offers one on the Internet like the original iMac! ;)

I think that the the iMac would be too large as a wig stand! :p

I still maintain the stance that you should give it to a poor little 16 year old who has to fight for food every day, and eats Ramen noodles all the time because he can't afford anything else.

Replace the screen with a mirrror and give it to Steve Jobs for his birthday.

That would actually look really cool. But I definitely wouldn't give it away. Unless it didn't look as cool as I expected or something.

I would second the suggestion that you give the LCD iMac to scem0. I'm sure that he would be more than willing to pay for the postage! ;)

If we're talking about you giving it away, I'll take it. Come on, I'm writing this on an eMachine that is 2.5 years old. My only Mac is an iMac 233 rev. A. Please, please, please. I'll pay for shipping! :)

The truth is I like my iMac and i'm using, and i hope to use for the next years to come, my question was only AFTER my iMac will die, what options are avilable or any ideas.
Thanks

i like the ant farm idea. that'd be pretty interesting. how about an etch-a-sketch/magna-doodle? an fp imac would make a nice message pad by a phone. i can't think of much that would fit in a slot that thin...

Thanks. It took a while to get from 170kb to -20kb ;).

I still think you should give it to me (when it stops working). I would at least try to fix it up.
