I was looking to buy a Casio Exlim Z60 or Z70 today, but I I have a dilemma. The apple store doesn't sell them, so I have a $50 apple store gift card I don't have much use for. I talked to the people in the apple store and sadly, if i did use my gift card for something else, they won't give me the cash I need as change. So...I would like to trade it off for some stuff.
I have (1) $50 Apple gift card and (1) $50 Bestbuy gift card to trade for $100 cash. I'm mainly looking to get rid of the Apple Gift card because i know I'm not going to be buying a digital camera there since the cameras never seem to be on sale at the Apple Store. The bestbuy gift card I will sell only with the apple gift card if someone wants to take them both.
Or if anyone has the casio exlim models that I'm looking for, I'll trade the two gift cards plus cash for the digital camera. Either way, I know I want to get one.
I've made many transactions here on MR and I'd like to know if anyone out there who plans on making purchases in the Apple Store and/or Bestbuy would like to help me out, I'd be very much grateful. Thank you.

Can the Apple card be used with an education discount? If yes, would you take $40 for it?

i believe so, the gift card is as good as cash, only that if the card has more than $0.99 remaining balance, the apple store will not give you change. On the card, it states:
Apple Gift Cards can be applied only to qualified purchases directly from Apple at an Apple Store, the online Apple Store, or Apple Telesales (800-MY-APPLE) in the US. Apple Gift Cards may not be redeemed at the iTunes Music Store, Apple resellers, or Apple Store locations outside the US. Apple Gift Cards are not redeemable for cash and cannot be used to purchase additional Apple Gift Cards or applied as payment to any account.
It also says that more details can be located at www.apple.com/go/giftcards. I'll check it out and I'll let you know.

Alright, I've read through it all, and it seems like I could use it - I guess it's just coupons that have that limitation, not gift cards. Let me know if you're interested in my offer (here or by PM), thanks.

There is nowhere on the Apple Site nor on the card that excludes the education discount. So I am 99.9% sure that the gift card can be used. It IS equivalent to cash, but limited to being used in the apple store. I'd like the even $50 cash value. I'm looking for someone who's willing to help me out if they buy things off the apple store frequently. I'd just like the money to get myself my digital camera.

I doubt you'll get full price for it.
The way it works is that the buyer gets a discount for the risk/hassle of buying a gift card off a third party, and the seller takes a hit, but gets cash. What motivation does a buyer have to give you full price when they could just use their own cash at the store?

I serriously doubt you will get an even cross trade for it. I just sold a gang of cards and I got $44.00 for a $50.00 apple card. On ebay they go for about that range. The cards are not as good as cash.

Hey, the gift card is sold. Got a full 50 for the Apple Gift Card. I'll just keep the Bestbuy one and use it to buy the digicam. Thanks again for the offers and the help. This thread can now close.
