I'm looking for an iBook or Powerbook for my Phillipino house cleaner. She's been in Canada for close to 3yrs but her family is still in the Phillipines. So she bought a Creative webcam but all my windows laptops are junk and I love using Apple Remote Desktop to help her.

So I'm looking for that laptop you thought no one would buy, as long as it can run 10.4 or something (10.3.9) I'm interested!!

Show me what you have!

My wife has an old 800Mhz G4 iBook, 640MB RAM, and a 60GB HD, with airport extreme card.

The Good: The exterior casing is in decent shape, transported primarily in a backpack without any special bag or cover--only surface scratches (no dings, dents, cracks, etc.). The screen is absolutely perfect with no dead pixels and still very bright. Keyboard and all ports in good working order as well. Airport reception is good.

The Bad: The iBook doesn't sleep when you close the lid, the monitor just stays on and the iBook continues to run. You have to physically tell it to sleep using the Apple menu or pressing the power button then hitting sleep. The battery only last about 70% from when we first bought it.

It's just sitting at home collecting dust as my wife has recently purchased a MacBook. I'm on my way to teach a class, but I can send you pictures later this evening. If you are interested, just make me an offer.

I'm interested but it might be too expensive? I don't really care about the sleep&battery issue.

I've been on Ebay looking at old Powerbooks and iBooks. And the prices vary for some damaged ones to babied ones so I don't know what to expect.

Don't be offended by my offer as I have no clue what these things go for, I have my Mac Pro & Mini but I've never had the need for an Apple laptop.

I'll PM you my offer. If it's any consolation to anybody else I'm buying this as a gift because I feel pretty sorry for her--she's only seen her 3boys once in 3yrs:(

Hey, I could help her out:

iBook G4 1.07GHz
10.4.8 with every update
768MB RAM
30-40GB hard drive
Combo drive
Airport Extreme

It's missing a few internal "protectors" and the rubber feet/screws are here somewhere. There is a small crack near the screen, but doesn't affect anything. Also was a return from Kondspi and he said the Airport wouldn't work there, but it works fine here. The Airport - computer cable is severed but it still gets full signal and connects to the internet

I feel sorry for her as well, so hopefully this could work out
