This might be an odd request but anyone that has one of these analog to digital converter, would you be interested in renting it to me? I really have no need to buy one. If Im going to spend that kind of money to buy one, might as well buy a miniDV cam instead.

Id be interested in Paypal'ing you the $ to cover the entire cost of the unit, use it for about a month, then send it back and you refund part of the cost. I have about 10 tapes I want to convert. I dont know how long it takes to convert each tape but Im guessing a month tops that I would need it.

I also have a 10gb 2nd gen iPod Id be willing to trade + cash or something else for one. The iPod still has about a 5-6hr charge, its in pretty good shape for its age. Been in an iSee case since about day 2. Has some nicks/swirls/scratches on the back, and a small ding that I have NO idea how it got there. I posted pics once, can post more if you are interested.

Ive got perfect ebay feedback, have 1 feedback on heatware. Can give name, address, phone #, whatever you request if you want to rent me the unit.

Thanks.

Have a better idea. How about $20 per week, 2 week minimum. That will encourage me to get it done as soon as possible.

How long does it take to convert one anyway? I know you have to play the tape at normal speed (I think). And a tape is, 90minutes? 120min? So we are talking about 2hrs per tape. Thats about 20+hours if I do it continuously.

Anyway, $20 week/2 week minumum. We split shipping shipping on way to me, Ill pay shipping back.

I have an elgato eyeTV 200 I would be willing to rent if that is of use to you. I used it to convert VHS tapes myself.

Let me know with a PM.

Thanks

I have a Canopus bridge I will let you borrow for cost of shipping. Very reliable.

In other words, you will get all your money back, minus cost of shipping to you. You can take as long as you want. On the other hand, if you want that force to get you done as you suggest in a previous lost, we can have a deal where I will start charging you rent only after two weeks. So get it done in two weeks for cost of shipping.

Thats very generous of you. Does that work with imovie/idvd or some other software?

I could paypal you $ to cover the cost of the shipping and would have no problem kicking in some extra for letting me borrow it, even if I use it less than 2 weeks. Then IF it were to go beyond that I certainly would pay for the usage.

My ebay id is superman1496. Feel free to contact me through ebay if you want to verify that. Same id on heatware, although I only have 1 feedback there, and it was from a purchase, not me selling something.

This is a Canpous ADVC-100. It works with iMovie (imports video from Hi8 or VHS). But please check on Canopus or elsewhere whether it meets your needs.

I will ship it to you for $100 and send you $90 back when I receive the unit from you. I am very particular about my equipment, so this is in top shape. I presume you will handle it gently.

I will not need it until mid-February, so send it to me anytime before that. I do not need any rental charge. Just that $10 to cover shipping/insurance to you.

They are selling on ebay for about the same price, if you want to buy one outright. I am stuck away from home because of the storm, so it will be a couple of days before I have access to the unit and ship it out. No guarantees as more ice is in forecast for this afternoon.

Very cool thread. Kudos for your ingenuity, and the support from the forum.

This may be the only thread that isnt complaining about the iphone or appleTV :)

.. that being said, The other offers on here are good offers, however if you were interrested I would be happy to offer a 3rd solution and import your tapes for you and burn the files to DVD's in trade for your iPod.

Let me know!

You could look at a cheaper/older MiniDV cam, most of which will allow you to plug in a VCR via composite and then transfer it live over FW to computer. Check up on fleabay....

It should as I have a Canopus ADVC-110 and it works with iMovie and FCE.
