This is a cool link to calculate how much of Twilight Princess you have actually completed.

http://www.twilight-calculator.us.tt/

I have "beat" the game, and I have only completed 59% of the game.

This truly is an epic game.

80%. Interesting. I'm at the 8th dungeon. I aaaaaaaalmost finished the Cave of Ordeals but died really far down. :( Yesterday I spent all my time collecting the rest of the bugs (the calculator says max is 24? I thought there was only 20? I definitely have all of them though), and beating level 1-8 of Rollgoal.

Let's try to keep this thread SPOILER FREE please (excluding the things that the calculator page mentions).

I can't seem to find the Cave of Ordeals. Any hints at where to look?

Come to think of it....is this the cave that can be found in Lake Hylia? If that is the case, then I have found it, but ran out of oil for my lamp.

I play for a hour or so, get tired of flinging my arms around and stop. I like the game a lot but quite honestly at times i really would like to just have a standard controller.

That said, I am not very far :p

No, that's something else (you know those blue glowing lanterns that attack you? there's a side quest involving those). Hint (highlight to see): The Cave of Ordeals is in the desert.

Today I finished the Cave of Ordeals, then went through the 8th dungeon, and got the last two remaining heart containers in the process. Now the only optional thing that I have left (I think—Rollgoal doesn't count :p ) is to find 12 more Poe souls. I have absolutely NO IDEA where they could be though, as I've been everywhere many times. That puts me at 88.4%. And oh, right, about 56 hours of gameplay.

Ha, nice timing on this! I just beat the game earlier today.

I got a 96.9%. I'm missing 3 bugs and 7 Poes. Took me just a smidge over 50 hours.

Wow, that is humbleing...I am on the 5th dungeon and have only finished 40%. I thought I was farther along than that...The sad thing is, I have already spent 30 hours. Also, have you guys caught all of the fish. I spent about 5 hours fishing...

My bobber logbook is full. I've been trying to catch the Hylian Loach with lure fishing, it's tricky.

I've finished 77.4% of the game. I've got all the bugs, but only 36 Poes. I need to finish the Cave of Ordeals, but I died with only 4 levels to go. After 53 hours of playing, I just keep going back and fighting Ganon over and over; he just feels so easy compared to OoT (maybe that was due to playing the collectors edition on the Cube).

I think I'm about 17 hours in and I've only completed 21.72% of the game. I'm really slow actually, when it comes to Zelda games. I really want to get 100% of the items the first time through, so it'll probably be a while.

You're slow?

I'm over 9 hours in and only 6% done or so. Of course I rarely get to sit and play for more than an hour at a time due to work, kid, and other responsibilities...(at least I'm 99% sure I'm done with grad school, degree should show up any day now).

At this rate I might not finish it until I retire.

Oh yeah, you're slower :) . But sometime within the next 3 weeks, I'm gonna have the added responsibility of a kid too. :D Right now, though, it's tough for me to get any time to actually game (well the time that Zelda requires). Wii sports is easy to find time to play, but I have to stay up late to play any Zelda (2:30am last Friday).

77.932666666667%, beat Ganandorf so now i have to get those 16 remaining bugs, 25 poes, giant quiver/ giant wallet...

two spoiler questions:

1. what is the RollGoal?

2. Is Iza's ride by that little shack at the bottom of the Zora's Domain area?

95.833% All I have left to do is catch 4 remaining bugs and 10 poes. And I think I'm missing a fish or two as well...

Anyway, I hate to complain, but I thought there were disappointingly few side-quests.

Actually I'm at 6.671% so I think I win :D. It's even taken me forever to get there....

Of course I'm still not sure what the heart pieces question means? Is the first part how many hearts you have in your life bar with the remaining how many pieces of the 5 you need to add another heart? Depending on how I answer I can go from 5+% to 6.671% complete.

I was at less than ten percent the about a week ago, now I am at twenty. Word of advice if you are early on, get a least one bug so you can get the big wallet. Does anyone have any advice when you are escorting the caravan (taking the zora child to the village)? I keep screwing that up. My main issue is with the flying monsters dropping those bombs... can't take them out in time. My game guide says to use Z lock to target, but it doesn't work with the bow?

It was kinda tough for me but I noticed that the bugs seemed to drop the bombs at the same place every time the carriage went in a loop so I rode out ahead and waited for them. Also, use the slingshot...I don't think you can Z target the bow...at least I haven't found a way so it makes it that much more difficult to shoot stuff while trying to ride too...

Thanks...I'll try it out. I hope I have ammo left for the slingshot. Anyone else think the guidebook is a waste of money except for finding heart pieces? Everything is such a footnote... no detail at all.

You can Z target with the bow normally but it might not let you while you're on Epona. I had problems with that part too. I also rode out ahead and did what I could, that seemed to work pretty well.

Have you been to the lure fishing area? In the shop there's a (frustrating) game you can play called Rollgoal. Just look around with C. Iza's ride is in the same area.

Also, the Gale Boomerang works well in that situation. And since it's already mapped to B so I can put the fire out on the wagon. But yeah, it took me a few tries to get past that part as well. Probably the hardest part I've faced so far.

You'll know when you see it (it's in Zora's Domain).

I caved and looked at a walkthrough one time, but only when I couldn't figure out what to do to progress in the story. I forget what at the moment, but it was because I didn't see something right in front of my face. It was in some dungeon, maybe Temple of Time...? Sounds right...

Other than that, nope.

Finished last night (final fight); never got too many bugs, %58.75 on the calculator, so I have plenty to go back to do (Cave of Ordeals, most of the games). With Midna always hassling me to keep to the plotline, I always felt guilty stopping to do unnecessary things.

I am at 93%.
Something I like about the game is you can easily get to 17 heart pieces with out 2 much trouble. There are not to many heart pieces that are a role pain to get. with 1 heart per dungeon and 2 heart pieces on top of that you can get most of that way and then all but maybe and I mean MAYBE 15 heart pieces are fairly easy to get and find.

and the final Ganon fight is fun.

22 hours in to the game, I was at the Lake Temple.
Though I sold the console, so I will have to finish it when I re-buy it.
(which may not happen until 08, considering Galaxies won't be out until Winter)

Dagless
Jan 22, 2007, 03:33 PM
Sold the console? haha. You shouldn't have bought a PS3, that's like the price of 3 Wii's. I always find it hard to believe when people say funny things like that. I mean WTF did you buy it in the first place? Speaks volumes.

I've not looked at any other post here. Currently 28 hours in, just done the snow mountain bit. Absolutely bowled away by that. 2nd time (maybe 3rd) the game has actually had me gob smacked at how well made, well crafted it is. Now I'm just taking my sweet time discovering little secret places.
I've got a feeling too. I've kept my ear to the ground for hours now, picked up at least 2 hearts. Exhausted every area on the map, got 21 poes etc... But the map isn't expanding. Feels like theres going to be some kind of change coming soon. or some new vast area that contains the other 60% poes and more than double the number of hearts I've collected.

This is big. And full of life, mystery and charm. Polar opposite of Oblivion or that similar-ish game on Steam.

Coded-Dude

I initially wanted a PS3 with a future Wii purchase.
Although, after getting jipped on pre-oder, and not wanting to wait 3 days in line, I gave up on PS3 and bought a Wii(at launch).
Its a great console, and I will buy it again....
However, I was given the opportunity to get a PS3 shortly after launch, and knowing Sony will have more titles this year that I will enjoy(note I said me not everyone) than did Ninty.....Selling it to re-coupe some money until later was a wise decision.

And as I already stated, the initial purchases for both consoles were VERY close in price.
I spent like $700 on Wii(console + accessories + 4 games) and the same for PS3(console + 1 game).

Dagless
Jan 22, 2007, 03:56 PM
Christ on a bike. a PS3 and game would be £480 here. A wii and 4 games = 290 which leaves 190 for accessories! Sorry. it's mad what systems and games can cost here.
I'm waiting for Mario Galaxy myself too. Doubt I'd buy another game till that. Maybe Excite Truck...

I'm now up to 13.04% completion in roughly 15-16 hours of playtime. I have gotten side tracked by LoZ:LttP just because I know I can suspend that and start exactly where I left off when I find the next block of time to play...

I might just block off Friday/Saturday nights for Twilight Princess since it's the only time I get a good block of 2-3 hours to play. I might break it out tonight after I get the third pendant and/or master sword in LttP. Damn that game takes me back to HS...half a lifetime ago...
