Who else here is excited about the release of this game? I am and plan on playing a Blood Elf Priest. I also hope Blizzard addresses the ques times on some of the older serveres like Icecrown as wait time has already been up to atleast an hour some nights. I kinda hope for the server split or sumthing to try and help this problemas it will only prove to get worse with the release of BC

Hehe, I was sure someone would have already started a thread on The Burning Crusade. I literally just installed it as I got mine shipped day before release - already downloading the first official patch *sigh*

I hope to hear some reviews soon. I just bought the game 3 weeks ago so I'm not real big on spending $40 for a whole new expansion when I haven't even finished exploring one continent and am only lvl 22, but if it is worth it I'm sure I can scrounge up $40. :D

Yea the expansion will be worth it in the long run I just hope BLizzard fixes the Long wait times to log in. The Realm Split isn't bad idea anything to get me in the game more conveniently than now is better. 1 hour to wait to log in is just insane!

Very excited, my copy should be delivered tomorrow. Looking forward to making my Blood Elf :D I just hope the expansion doesn't create a 'divide' between those who have it and those who don't in terms of gameplay.

Don't bother dude, you gotta be L58 to go through The Dark Portal to Outland. Wait for a bit. Most of the story elements will be in there, probably the new races too, just not Outland...

iam not a WoW player but I am just wondering since I research MMO culture what is this portal everyone is talking about. Also I am just curiose is WoW have a dramatic change in players, meaning large amount of people quit the game but new batch come in to take the empty spots of the major guilds?
Sorry just that I really interested in MMO culture alot.

It's a portal to Outland where the Horde came from. It's also where Illidan has been exiled. Let me put it this way, we really aren't prepared (which is why they raised the lvl cap from 60 to 70 I believe).

I'm on Silverhand (it is RP but most people don't, including me, I'm only on it 'cause I know a lot of people from school on it...) and I was in SW about to run stockades when a Shaman and a Dreinei showed up and the entire city went to stare at them. It was pretty funny. I didn't notice any crashes or lag after launch, so all seems to be going well.

Nothing really happens. Demons and voidwalkers come flooding through the gate to be AE'd massively by the Alliance.

Blizz did a fantastic job on the graphics speed. I have a 2.3 G5 with 7800 GT and I got 162 fps (momentarily) looking up at the sky flying. I never beat 105 before. Both processors are not pegged either so it isnt the multi-threaed opengl yet. :)

So wait, only lvl 60 people can use the expansion pack?
because its my understanding that to use the xpansion, you go thru the dark portal...which is in a pretty high level area right?
so you cant even get there until a certain level...and even when you got there, what are the corresponding levels of NPCs etc in the xpansion?
know what i mean?

Yes, the expansion is good for people who are level 58+ or people who want to start one of the new races... otherwise, it's kind of a waste. I'd recommend waiting for a while, since the new starting areas are going to be a madhouse at first.

The expansion is primarily for level 58+ people. Outlands has 7 new zones (just going by memory) with several new dungeons. The initial creatures you'd face are level 58ish and up. It's not an issue for level 58+ to be out there.
If you desire to be a blood elf or draenei you certainly need the expansion. If you don't have the expansion you can't create characters of these races or visit their areas.
There is a new profession, Jewelcrafting, but I believe the only trainers for that are in the starting areas for the new races... and you can't get there without the expansion.
If you're not near 60 yet and have no desire to be a blood elf or draenei I would probably hold off on purchasing the expansion. Once you need it the expansion might be cheaper... I made the mistake of buying expansions in previous MMO's and never ever experiencing the content it provided. Huge waste of money. Although I'm 60 (several times over) so it's not a waste this time.

I had to get one also. The horde has been starved for pallys for too long. Now we even get a "cute" race so maybe the alliance won't outnumber us so badly on Dragonblight.
We got our prepurchased copies at Gamestop at midnight last night and despite my mad driving skills and rapid installation once I got home, there were already some of you guys online.
I turned in some quests that I'd been saving and ground out a few new quests to get a couple bars of xps. It's going to be fun leveling again.
Anyone else completely psyched about all the new potions, recipes and the potential upside of socketed items?

Ouch! Glad I didn't take the day off to play all day. Of course, our server has a history of barfing hard after any patch. I figure I'll get enough play in during the evenings and then the weekend.
I'm taking my time and going to level my main, all my alt toons and then start a new Blood Elf rather than burning through the content as quickly as I did to make all my level 60s. Savor the experience this time. Looks like a lot more grinding of rep to get all the recipes and things I want anyway, not just a rush to get to level 70.

all the servers are madhouses. Just crazy, in the starting areas its just fields of corpses. More people than I have ever seen in a single place. And right now my main server has going back and forth between 1hr and 2hr waiting times to get in.
ps I got my copy lastnight at eb, we have 2 eb's in our town. The one where you waited outside had 200 people in line, and the one at our mall had close to 300 but only had 200 copies.

I'm probably the only one here who won't be buying it. I have been beta testing it for a couple of months now and I'm rather unimpressed with it. They made the grind more tedious for better weapons and lol 5000 gold so I can purchase my flying mount.
I'll give you the short version. Everyone without jobs grinds as fast as possible to 70 to run around and gank the slower levelers and then wait around the 3 pvp areas in hellfire just flying in and out when one is about to be captured. Endgame raiding was yawntastic and maybe it's because raiding has never been fun but now it's just more unfun with more tedium.
I leveled a BE pally to 40 before I got sick of it and well I cancelled my account 2 months ago and just played on the beta test servers for free and now I'm done. It's a game that demands you put in way more hours per day than is natural or healthy otherwise you will fall way behind in gear thus falling behind in the competitive edge.
I have no regrets about not playing that game ever again but the one thing that is great is their Mac Support team is bar none the most efficient and devoted to improving gameplay for macs. Tigerclaw and Justinkk are all over mac issues the moment they arise.

Blizz timed it perfectly for me... I was pretty much done with the game due to problems finding a raiding guild. Not finding one, actually, but finding one that didn't shatter within two weeks due to silly conflict or that changed their raiding time from 6 pm to 9 pm.
After playing BC for a few hours last night, though, the appeal of the game is back, and playing through some quests in Outland and doing a new 5-man was a lot of fun. Also fun was getting a green crossbow from the very first quest I did that's better than my Flawless Arcanite Rifle... the gear that dropped in the instance was just insane for a short 5-man.
Looking forward to starting a couple of new characters tonight.

so do those who dont have the expansion get to "see/speak/hear" these characters?
as I assume they arent only allowed to run around in the dark portal outland place?
what I mean i guess, is that EVERYONE got an update for the models of the new races, but unless you have the expansion, you cant choose them at the create screen.
