God. Blizzard needs to worry less about the "honor" system and get matches in PvP battlefields, especially at lower levels, to be more fair.

I know most of you have heard of "twinking": when players buying sometimes online gold and get the best possible weapons that can be used at 19 and murder all of us players with "lives".

I don't have any idea on what would be a good idea. Maybe like some kind of "skill" matching like Halo does?

Comment. :D

That really doesn't bother me. What bothers me is ganking. That pisses me off. As for the online gold, why are they so willing to spend REAL money for that stuff? It's not as if you can't go into certain areas and get like 20 copper per kill and just rack up on experience points while you're at it?

I'm a 23 mage and I A) don't understand PvP and B) don't like to play it because the Horde always wins and I always get my ass kicked by lvl 28 and 29s...I don't know, can someone explain the whole honor thing to me?

Big post, but save ya the trouble of clicking. (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/pvp/honorguide.html)

How to gain Honor

There are four sources to Honor during the day:

* Honorable Kills
* Killing racial leaders
* Achieving Battlegrounds objectives
* Achieving World PvP objectives

Honorable Kills: killing a player character within your XP range, i.e. a character whose name is colored (green to red), not grey. There are several factors influencing the Honor value of such a kill:

* Your victim's level: killing a level 60 character gives more Honor than killing a level 50 character. Killing a "grey" player gives no Honor.
* Your own level: a level 60 character killing another level 60 character gains more Honor than a level 40 character killing another level 40 character.
* Subsequent kills: Killing the same character again and again within 24 hours after the first kill will give reduced points for each subsequent kill. Each subsequent kill will yield 10% less honor, until the reward eventually reaches zero. Please note that the Honor notification in-game when killing an opponent does not take this diminishing return into account.
* Group or raid: killing while in a group or raid will share the Honor among team members in the same way as XP, with the exception of the raid penalty on XP not being applied to Honor. Lower level members will get a smaller portion than the higher level ones. Note: kills made in a group or raid still count towards your subsequent kills penalty (see above). Members of the group or raid group will not receive honor points if they are too far away from the group member who got the kill, much like earning XP.
* You or your team or raid's contribution to the kill: each solo character, group or raid participating in the kill gets their share of the Honor. The share is roughly equal to the percentage of damage inflicted to kill the target. Notes:
o If an opponent does not receive any damage for one minute the record of who contributed to killing him is wiped clean. Thus, even if you come upon a lone enemy someone else might have fought him (and lost) recently and you might not get the full share of Honor for killing him.
o Monsters and NPCs take their part too. If you jump a character already injured by a monster or NPC (and maybe still in combat) your reward will be smaller.
* Being present at the time of the kill: you need to be alive and close by at the time of the kill to get your share of the Honor. Note: The opponent being healed during combat does not mean he's worth more points, only that it takes more damage to kill him.

Killing racial leaders: killing one of the NPCs considered leaders of their race. There are only a few of these, all on a two hour spawn timer, and the bonus for their defeat is divided between participating solo characters, groups and raids based on damage contribution. The racial leaders are:

* Thrall
* Cairne Bloodhoof
* Lady Sylvanas Windrunner
* Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
* King Magni Bronzebeard
* Archdruid Fandral Staghelm

Achieving Battlegrounds objectives: the Battlegrounds contain several opportunities to gain Honor in addition to killing your opponents, one of them naturally being winning the Battleground. E.g. in Capture-the-Flag Battlegrounds each returned flag gives your side a share of Honor. All members of the Battlegrounds team (Alliance / Horde) will receive the same amount of Honor for a flag capture.

Tips:

* Battlegrounds objectives are intended to be a substantial part of your Honor for a week. Don't ignore them if you wish to gain Honor Points.
* As kills in raids give fewer points to you personally but still count toward your subsequent kill ratio, try to get some kills alone or in a small group earlier in the day / evening, then join a raid to collect more kills to meet the cut-off.

Outdoor PvP: you can gain Honor Points by participating in Outdoor Pvp.

Honor Point Calculation

Daily - calculating Honor: each day, two hours after midnight, the previous day's Honor is calculated for all characters. All your kills and achieved objectives are added together into your Honor for the day, completely independent of other characters.
Other Information

Estimated Honor Point Value
Players can see an "estimated honor point (formerly contribution point) value" in the combat log for an PvP kill. Note that this value does not take diminishing returns against the same player into account and is therefore "estimated." You can also send this message to your main chat window by right-clicking on the channel header and turning on that option in the submenus.

Battle Standards
The Horde and Alliance PvP Battle Standards may only be used inside PvP Battlegrounds

"Twinking", as they call it, is something people do once they get bored of their level 60 character. It's more of a natural evolution of the way of life in WoW.

When you're either tired of playing your lvl 60 or waiting for a guild raid later in the session, one creates a "Twink". Trust me, almost everyone goes through it and there are ones who complain about it and throse who contribute towards it and realize how über it is to pwn in bgs!!!!oneone11!

edit: Oh, and by the by if you didn't realize it yet the horde rox0rs.

Hmm, that's true, I got an Honorable kill for participating in killing a Horde lvl 60...and I was lvl 19 at the time. That was fun.

Yeah... 'cause that helps at level 19.

Most Twinks are not people that bought gold off eBay. They have a level 60 and have been accruing gold with nothing to do with it. So they make a tricked out low level player to play in the battlegrounds. It didn't really bother me too much when leveling up. I figure it's just a game ya know?

Although one thing that kinda sucks is that level ?9 gear tends to be expensive. I usually made a point to regear around level ?3 or so. I don't think it's much worth changing gear except every 10 levels anyway.

You receive honor for killing the opposite faction and for accomplishing goals in the battlegrounds. The honor points can be spent (similar to money) along with battlegrounds marks (you earn them in battlegrounds games) to buy some really nice equipment.

If you are only just starting and are level 23, reroll as a horde character now. Because it's a ratio of almost 3:1 active alliance players to horde players on many servers, the alliance generally has to wait in battleground queues for as long as 45 minutes while the horde doesn't have to wait. Most people who rolled alliance don't consider this when they start but they regret it later on after they have put a lot of time into their alliance character.
