Which SIMS to start with?

I was recently in the apple store and I saw over by the games section that they had a bundle pack for the original SIMS that included both the game and all the expansion packs for around $40 (US). I also saw that they were carrying the newer program SIMS2. My question is whether to buy the original or to start with the new one. I am new to the game and haven't played either version. Besides graphics are there major game-play advantages to the second one or minus the visuals would it make sense to buy the original. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you are just getting started and your computer will run it, I would start with Sims 2. The graphics are MUCH better and there have been a ton of features added. Not to mention they have several expansion packs already. The original game was fun for its time but Sims 2 is so much better.
