Looking to get my first mac and decided on this ibook. I dont want to spen 800-1000 for an emac as many have suggested. I would like something to use for the web, music, and minor photo editing and management. Once I decide what I think of owning a mac then I may in the future buy a new imac or ibook.

So if its just sitting there not being used, in decent shape, send me a pm. A few pictures would be nice too. :)

I don't think you'd be happy with this machine as your first Mac. OS X will seem very slow on an older clamshell.

I recommed getting a eMac, even though it will cost more. You'll get a much better impression of the platform. I took a plunge with my first Mac (spent over $2000 all told), and have been happy with my decision ever since.

When are you looking to buy? I ask this because with the next revision to the 12' Al book I will be looking to get rid of an iMac 400 DV running 10.2.6 could use a little more ram but runs OS X and has plenty of power just to see if you like it. and I would be happy with 350 + Shipping.

I can understand if you are not willing to wait.

well how long are we talking about? Im not exactly chomping at the bit to get something right now...

Id like something withing the next 2-3 months though.

What is an iMac 400 DV anyhow? Is that one of the crt style iMacs?? $350 sounds real good though :D

Imac dv is an older CRT imac and unlike other recommendations in this forum I feel the older macs are still viable. you are not going to play any games ion them and you are not going to do pro level work that is reliant on time spent. my mom still uses a clamshell iBook and all she uses it for is mail and internet. I support it for her and I find it very usable. My duaughter still uses a Power mac 6100/66 AV that I have upgraded to a G3 233 and it does everything it needs to. If all you are doing is internet and email then 350 is a reasonable price for a crt imac that can play DVD movies as well.

It is a 15'' CRT
Blueberry
400 mhz G3
Running OS X 10.2.6
512mb Ram (can hold 1gb 2 slots pc100/133)
10gig hd
I use it for
Email
Web
games
Civ III
Warcraft III (low res but functionally fine)
DVD viewing
Office V.X
and the iApps (iDVD not included)
All ports are functional, Never been opened/droped nor has there been any spilling on to the computer.

As for time I am hoping to get a Rev 2 12' Al book or wait for the next iMac 17 FP update (3-4 months)

This iMac also has Airport card, incase you have 802.11b at your house. I will email you a pic. If I end up waiting 4 months it may have more then 512mb of ram. I will also email all the programs and or disks that come with the computer.

Looked it up and depending on what city you are in Shipping (USPS) 30-40. But that is not too bad for 40-45 lbs Computer+keyboard+Mouse... + lots of disks (if you want them, we can email about that).
