Doom 3 crashes

Doom 3 was playing perfectly when I first had it properly set up (universal, v1.13A) on my brand new C2D MBP, I had managed to get a few hours done before I gave up (from fear of darkness:rolleyes:). Anyway, about a week later, I started playing it again and now it always and without fail, doom will unexpectedly quit about 30 seconds into playing the game (ie after it has finished loading). Right before it quits though, the sound cuts out completely, then a few seconds later, my desktop appears, with the 'unexpectedly quit' message.

I'm pretty sure it is something to do with the sound, the crash report shows the crashed thread (and what it was doing) = everything audio.

Nothing has changed (system-wise) since I last played it.
