Can't install OS 9 on G4 733

Added a second hard drive to a G4 733. Tried to boot from an OS 9 CD, but I got an icon of a folder with a flashing question mark alternating with the Mac OS faces logo on it. Then the computer gives up and boots the current system. I tried sharing the CD from another Mac, but I got a message about reading the documentation.

Anyway, I can't figure out what's wrong. Wondering if anyone can help me figure this out. :confused:

Sounds like the CD is scratched or flawed in some way.

did u make the cd the startup drive? ( just guessin) might be the disc

I wish it were the disc, but the disc booted up just fine on a G4 400. I don't get it. I tried using the start up disk control panel and holding down C, but both of them resulted in that folder icon with the question mark.

Anway, this is the message I get when I try to run the installer from another computer, "This program cannot run on your computer - see doccumentation."

Is it a 9.0.x CD, or 9.2.1? I could be wrong, but I don't think the former runs on your computer.

That could be it. It's a 9.0 CD.
