I have started preparing a lot of language classes using my PB. I plug into the school PC network and find texts, music and assorted ideas to put into practice in the classroom.

I dont use it in class because that would create too much of a distraction - it's hard enough getting students to concentrate as it is. My project for the summer is to prepare some interactive CD's geared to certain students' course requirements. Cant wait to get stuck into that. Who says teachers dont work all year!

If I were expected to provide my own computer for a job, I'd hope to get compensated. I do use my own at home for freelance, but never at a job.

I use my company supplied Panasonic Toughbook for work and my iMac at home.

I use my computer for my school work and for the heck of it. But, I'm not required to have a computer for school.

I am one of the lucky stiffs that use Macs for both work and home (DP 1.25 Ghz and SP 933 Mhz G4).

BTW:
Besides apostrophies being abused (CD's vs. CDs), my biggest pet peeve is their vs. there. "There" is a place, "their" is a possessive pronoun. ;)

My Uni bought me the 17" AlBook which travels back and forth with me obviously, abd I have the eMac at home (and the old 15" TiBook as well currently:D ).

We use Macs exclusivley in the studios and labs at the Uni, so I rarely have the distraction of wrestling with windoze in any form:D :D

Id rather get the job done and get off home rather than frat around on a Windows heap.

And till you mentioned it, to be honest, it never crossed my mind to consider being compensated for using my personal kit for work. I guess being a teacher such a commercial consideration wouldn't!

You'll have to put up with the occasional post with the wrong word form, since people need to speak there minds, and they're is nothing you can do about it. ;) ;)

At work, I use both a Mac and a Windows PC, each about half the time. At home, I use a Mac almost all of the time. But on that rare occasion when Windows is needed, I use a PC.

I'm running a little recording studio on my old faithful G4 2x800 Superdrive (1.5 Gig of RAM, 380GB total HD space), and I just got me a brand new 12" PB with airport.

I have the choice at the school where I teach, I can use their Gateway Economy (elcheapo) 550Mhz Celeron running Windows 98 or my own iBook 600 Combo running Jag. What would you use?

I just plug it right into the PC network and presto it is there. The kids love the iBook, but since it is my own I don't let them use it very often. They have to use the school districts PC's. I am getting the 2 "Wrongway Craperon" 550's fixed up with more RAM and having our Tech coordinator put XP Pro on them. My other 2 in the room are 200Mhz Pentium Pro's (Pro is short for Prophylactic) running 98. If you think todays Macs are slow...get on one of those!!!!!!
