ok, here's my problem:

FireFox Downloads .DMG files as .EXE files only

when i go to a site in firefox and want to download a file, it always comes in as $%&^@#*!.EXE (8 characters followed by .exe)

example: my airport update should've come in as AirPortExtremeUpdate2007001.dmg , but instead it came in as: cylcmj0k.exe

i have to go to safari to download files.
never had this problem on my emac. both running osx 10.4.8

macbook c2d 2.0Gz
osx 10.4.8
Firefox/2.0.0.1

is there a setting i missed somewhere?

i've reinstalled FF.
i've deleted downloads.rdf
i've been to the mozilla site looking for info. seems every person there is peecee
i've had this problem since Nov. 8th when i got my mb

i'm beginning to almost think it's a macbook problem.

I really prefer FireFox, except for this quirk which may force me to go back to safari.
