Recently I purchased this iBook on eBay. I thought that I was going to need it to fix my wife's iBook, but I was able to get her iBook running before this one arrived. I purchased it as is, and I'm selling it as is. Here's what I can tell you about it.

1. 500Mhz Dual USB ibook
2. 192MB RAM. 64 on board, 128 stick
3. CDROM
4. Plastics look good there are lots of scratches, no cracks.
5. Screen appears OK, no cracks
6. No battery
7. No power adapter
8. It does not power on, I have done no testing. This could be the DC in board. It could be the logic board. I don't know which.
9. It does not latch. The hook on the lid is in tact, but the button does not catch.
10. No Airport.
11. Keyboard is in really good shape. Very clean. All keys in tact.

This is everything I know. I don't know what is or isn't working. I have no interest in figuring out what's wrong with this computer now that my wife's is up and running. I also have no interest in parting this machine out, please make offers for the entire machine, not parts.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. My ebay name is the same as my macrumors name, if you want to check out my feedback. I'm not looking to make anything on this sale. I just want to get the money back that I have in it. $80.00, shipped in the US, paypal only. I'm open to offers. This is sold as a non working iBook, as is. I can't accept returns for a known broken product.

It's a reasonable price, especially given that the pool of broken ones showing up on ebay is shrinking.

I didn't know if you were perhaps interested in parting some of it out, but if you were, I'm interested in the LCD panel if it has the serial number "LTN121X1-L02", which I believe all of the 500Mhz iBooks have. I could pay $25 for that one part.

I really don't know what's wrong with it. I just don't feel like going to the trouble of opening the thing up. If the thing only needs a new DC in board, this thing's a steal at $80.00.

The screen is 12". Upon further inspection, the screen does have some marks on it, no cracks, no scratches. It just looks kind of dirty.

Sorry, I'm not parting it out. I have no interest in taking this thing apart. I've dismantled many iBooks. I just don't feel like doing the work when there are no parts in it that I need, and I don't want to take all of the time to sell and ship each piece. It's just more trouble than it's worth, to me, right now. It may be a diamond in the rough for someone else, though.

I'm going to assume that you didn't call dibs because you intend to purchase this iBook.

It's still up for grabs, and I'm open to money offers and possible trades.

Ooh. I'm into trades! Does the spouse need a 512 stick for her iBook?

To all of you who passed this one up, or low balled me, you really missed out on this one. I decided to suck it up and actually find out what was wrong with this G3 iBook. I lucked out.

The only thing that needed to be replaced was the DC in board. Luckily, I actually had an extra DC in board laying around, so my total cost in this fully functioning iBook is $80.00, including shipping. That's one hell of a deal if you ask me.

This iBook is no longer a parts iBook. It's a working iBook, and it's no longer for sale.

Great! Glad to hear you revived it! I'm in the process of reviving a G3 iBook as well. I have many of them, 2 which work. One has been sold here, fully working and modded, the other missing a hard drive, LCD, and optical drive.
