Wow. Scalable gameplay. Good going! It must be good. The best gameplay types can be scaled with no probs so it's probably going to be a good game. Maybe...

You know, Spore looks awesome. Honestly. It looks like an amazing, amazing game. But any enthusiasm I had about it died off a long time ago. When was it first talked about? How many years ago? How many years until it will be released? Maybe when its release is imminent I'll get excited again, but it's just been too long. It's like waiting for SC2. After a certain point, you just don't care anymore.
But yeah, Spore on the DS, I'll definitely be getting that :D

I certainly hope they make it for the Mac.
This a game I'll be buying for my DS though.

I think theres a good chance it will hit the Mac. After all it's coming out on every other system ever.

The game sounds very intensive and involved. I hope they'll make it so you can send save files between the games...so you could pick up your DS on your way out and keep playing...then dump your progress when you get back home. I'd like to see this in sports games as well. Have a league going in Fifa and all games played on anything get the same credit....

So jimmi, Spore and SimCity are EA titles... I guess that means they won't be getting into YOUR house, eh? ;)

For anyone wanting to know more about this game, check out this video (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8372603330420559198). It's 35 minutes long, but worth watching every second.

THE WORLD WILL KNEEL WHEN SPORE IS RELEASED!
And the video game world, will reel from it for months or years to come.
Spore, I don't even know you, and I love you.

Hate to say it, but the DS (and probably console versions) will be crappy, stripped-down versions of the computer version. Like the Sims was.

Yup, it always is. I hate that.

the game is "massive", i doubt the DS, with its tiny screen, would allow for the full experience anyway.

Well that might not actually be a problem.
If you followed the development you might recall Will hired a bunch of people from the "Demo Scene" because he was amazed at what they could pull off with such little code and space.
These are the guys making full 3D FPS games in 64K of space, and some amazing 16K 3D "demos" that are often too amazing to describe.
If the same team is in charge of the DS version, it could be really impressive. Sadly, often a different team entirely is hired to make handheld versions of games... not sure about Spore.

Spore and the DS are a perfect match. Thumb-twiddlers need not apply. :o

i meant massive of a game, not in file size.

Am I missing something? Spore seems like a union of SimLife and civilization or something... I mean you get to evolute and build your species into a civilization of sorts...but is there something I missed?

Has anyone heard anything more from Sir Wright or EA about Spore lately? (since the DS multi-platform announcement)
I'm on the Spore mailing list and NOTHING has been sent. Ever. ..which I find more than a little disappointing. :(
I heard March '08 was the new release guesstimate, but no new game details have surfaced in a long time.
C'mon. *Somebody* has to have the inside scoop. Speak up! ;)

The graphics and game worlds in Spore will be all built on-the-fly procedurally. Thats CPU power, not game size or even game code. You can't get close to this using the DS CPU, therefore I'm betting a lot of the procedural bits of the game will be stripped out of the mobile portion and replaced with a quest based game featuring pre-built models and/or sprites. Or, in other words, a completely different game.

So will Spore be bigger than WoW?
It seems like it is going to be on every possible medium.

Bigger in what way?
In "world" size? Yes, most definitely it will be bigger.
WoW has set boundaries, Spore has ZERO boundaries, both for UNIVERSE (notice i didnt use the lowly noun "world") and for creativity.
And on another note, how dare you compare WoW to Spore. :D
