I play Quake III and The Sims a lot (both full screen), but like to have iTunes going in the background.

Is there anyway to control iTunes (pref using keyboard), whilst in games. I tried the iTunes keyboard shortcuts, but they only work when the iTunes window is in focus.

Cheers

:)

you could try this:

not sure it'll work... but i think you can set it up so that there's a key command that calls it to the front, and then you can control itunes with it....

worth a shot.

does using the cmd-tab key switch the active app to iTunes from Quake? try that. that's how i controlled winamp while playing games in windows (well it's alt-tab there)

x-tunes from the above link is cool when using the o/s, but it does not overlay the sims or quake. it just doesnt appear.

If a software solution isnt possible, is there a hardware remote that will do the job?

otherwise, in a word, no.

did you try the cmd-tab thing?

cmd-tab won't work for me from games.

ahh well

About iPod though (as that is on the wanted list at the moment) - if I get one of these and leave it connected to the firewire port, will the music play through the Harman SoundSticks (also on the wanted list!) - or will I have to tap the iPod into the line-in on my iMac

There is a great way!

There is only one catch, you need a BT phone. If you do, it is the perfect solution:

Salling Clicker.

You can do so much through iTunes via the BlueTooth. I use it all the time.
