I have heard many things about the new PPC 970 , but can anyone clearly explain if these new chips will be faster or slower than the present P4 processors.

Slower clock-speed, but I think overall performance will be better. Don't get sucked in by the megahertz myth...

I had heard things in other sites that even though they were 64 bit they were slower than P4, but the MacDiboulille site gave a great explanation.
