When does the Halo 3 Beta start

So I'm looking at picking up crackdown, partly due to the game itself, and partly due to the chance of the Halo 3 beta.

So here's my question - when does the Halo 3 Beta kick in?

Bunjie have stated that the beta will start when its ready and not sooner. Very vague then - but we can hope it will be in the next two months, but it's not improbable that it happens 4 months time..
