You've never heard of failing at something?

For example: He was trying to be inspirational, but failed to motivate his team.

In this case, I believe Jessica, or whoever the user was attempted to be sarcastic, but it didn't come off very well. Of course, everyone will side with their beloved white apples and decide to hate me, as Mac lovers usually do.
