Well it's a feeler, so I was kind of looking for offers. If you are seriously interested in the computer, send me a PM and we can work out a deal.

How does it not have an OS, if every Mac comes with an OS. Did you wipe it, and then realize you didn't have the discs?
I thought all the OS discs Apple sells were just upgrade discs. Do they work on a wiped Mac?

There is an OS on it right now. MacRumors will not let me sell a computer with an OS on it if I do not provide discs. I got this computer on this forum, and it had an OS installed when I received it. I will be wiping it before I ship.

Well from CraigsList I have gotten offers in the 500's. I was expecting it to sell for around 650. I see 17"s go all the time for 700 on eBay, and 15"s go for 400.

$650?? This is a 4 year old computer! I bought a 17" core duo imac on this forum for $750 about 5 months ago. Granted, that was a steal, but still...

The only reason I say that is because they go for 600-800 all the time on eBay. People really like the design of the iMac G4.
Anyway, I guess I will just sell it locally, because it won't even be worth it with shipping. Mods, please close this thread.

well hey, if you can get $600-800, more power to you! I'm surprised, but I don't doubt you. When I bought the imac, I gave it to my gf and sold her 1.25 Ghz single processor G4 for her on ebay, and it fetched over $800. So yeah, sell it on ebay and you probably will get what you're asking. People on these boards just tend to be a bit more savvy than your average ebay user. ;)

Convengo, diría que usted podría conseguir cerca de 600 o 700 dólares en ebay para esta cosa. Imágenes del poste si usted consigue una ocasión.

Whatever, I think I just made a local deal for $500. By the way, why was that in Spanish? I had to use dashboard to understand it. :D

Whatever the stated policy on software may be, it seems totally reasonable if you were to install the version of OS X that came with the computer, even if you had to use other discs to do it. Every mac presumably carries with it a valid license to MacOS. I guess I could imagine a scenario where someone tries to sell the license/media that came with the computer, but nowadays the media is restricted to prevent installation on any computer but the type for which the discs were made. Thus, it could only be used to install MacOS on a computer that already carries a valid license.
Check with the mods, you'd probably be in the clear including an installation of whatever OS shipped with your iMac (e.g. Jaguar, Panther).
