Unless I can fix it (displaying folder with "!" icon), then I'll have a "broken" 20gb 3rd Generation iPod (pictures if requested) that is up for sale, name your price.

Also, to reiterate: this iPod is going to be sold as "AS-IS"/"Not Working".
I'd like to sell it, or I could maybe even part it out, but I need some cash, so I can replace this iPod with either the same model or something similar, I miss my music desperately.

These are so nice. If someone bought this and then bought a HD for it off eBay, you'd have yourself a really nice iPod. Good luck with the sell.

I'd do the same, this is actually a replacement unit for one (same model) I did that to, but I figured this time it's not worth the cost of a new hardrive and worth the time to install it for me, so I'd rather part it make some spare cash and maybe buy a 4th gen or a video or something.
Thanks.

Having no idea what these may be worth, and taking into consideration it is not working...
$35?

If you could do $41.50 to cover shipping, etc - I'd think about it.

I could do $40 shipped if it comes with earbuds, charger, etc.
What all will be included in this sale?

I'll mull it over, because like I said it's a little too much for me to pay to replace the drive myself, although should I become so compelled, it'll be off the market, but I'll let you know.
I have a pair of unused "new style" Apple earbuds, no charger though, just the actual iPod in this sale unless you really want the earbuds then you'd have to include some extra money.

I don't want them that bad, I guess. I have an old style pair that will work fine.
How am I supposed to charge this thing, though? Does it at least come with a cable to connect to my Mac (actually what I meant by "charger", should've been more clear)?

$40 is more than enough (incl. shipping) for a 3rd gen iPod that doesn't work and doesn't come with a charger or headphones. it should at least come with the syncing cable. i would expect the seller to include headphones and a charger, because those things came with the iPod when it was purchased as new.

This iPod wasn't purchased new, this was a replacement from a used unit I bought on another forum, which had a bad battery, and the battery replacement program from Apple replaced the whole unit (aka another iPod) for $60.
I'll determine tomorrow wether I'll be buying a new HD and replacing it or selling it, if I decide to sell someguy's got it for $40 shipped and I'll look for a charging cable.
I probably should have put feeler, because I'll be told tomorrow (parental unit) if she'll buy a new HD for it or not, or just wants me to sell it.

You can expect that when they are new ipods up for sale that have been used little. If you look at a lot of the older ipods on ebay, most don't come with headphones etc. Those accessories reflect the price also. So he knows that if he was selling it without the acc. he would get more including them. I try not to expect too much when you're buying used.

You said you would like to get a similar one to replace it. I have a 15gb 3rd gen that works fine that I would be able to part with. I don't know exactly what the going value is for it, but let me know. It holds a charge and the screen is fine. It has had a protector on it and I haven't taken it off for a year so I don't know exactly what it looks like underneath but there aren't any major scratches. I don't want to steal the thread but let me know if you are interested.

i am familiar with the going rates for broken and working iPods. my emphasis was not as much on the accessories included with the iPod so much as the fact that it's not working. non-working 3rd gen iPods usually go for around $30. that's why i said $40 was more than enough and it would be fairer to include some accessories - obviously if the seller does not have the accessories he cannot include them.

ok. I couldn't tell that you were relating the two. When you were talking about how all of the new ones come with them, I connected that with all used ones having them too since you mentioned that before. I see what your meaning now.

Well, I just checked out and bought a replacement 20gb HD, so needless to say for now this iPod is off the market, although I may resell once I get it working again, hard to tell.
