Iphone already shipped to stores [Archive]

I have a very good friend that works at radio shack. He told me that they recieved a shipment this week and were trained on the Iphone. He was even nice enough to show me the boxes they come in but we can not open them. He was trained on a dumby phone just like steve used at the expo. There still are some small things that we was not trained on tho like the ringtones. The managment did say that they will be coming out in june or july but not any earlier. but then again why did apple ship them already?

Next time you or your friend should take a picture of the dummy phone or the box's they come in. Because I'm sure there will be a lot of skeptics doubting you ;] One of them being me.

yes, yes... i'm sure apple, the super secret company, would provide electronics giant Radioshack with the first iphone, 4 months ahead of schedule. Apple gave them the simple "keep it on the DL" and it was all good. Yes just like i am sure steve used a dumby phone. Just like your friend was trained on. Only a dumby phone is a phone that doesn't work so i'm not sure how you can be trained on it. or use it for the keynote.

Anyway I'm heading off to radioshack. on my flying pig. Be back in 20.

Well I just got back from Radio Shack, I was able to purchase a shipment out of the back door. I will trade you for credit card numbers, and I guess PayPal usernames and passwords will work also.

Oh no ... that makes perfect sense. Companies the size of Apple typically use the warehouses and stockrooms of small resellers who won't even be carrying a particular product to store units for a few months before their release. It helps to save them a little money on storage, and the cost savings more than offset the risk of that retailer selling or giving away a mobile phone illegally before it receives FCC clearance.

It's really just Business 101.

I'm screaming Fake and Troll on this. First off the phone isn't even approved by the FCC, why would Apple waste the money to manufacture and ship all of these phones in March? Second how is the phone Jobs used at Keynote a "dummy" phone? And now I'm going to stop because I'm being a pawn to the trolls.

I'm really skeptical about this... but there may some truth to it... .

the 'my friend was trained on a dummy phone' thing should really let you know where this real stands. That and the fact that it is completely unrealistic.

Tell me was this 'dummy phone' possibly made of paper, maybe?

Even the guy at the Cingular store I was talking to last weekend said that they had been told that they weren't going to stock them. At least initially you'd have to order online from Cingular's website.
