Hey guys,
I'm looking for a new Hard Drive to speed up my current PowerBook. The 4200 RPM 20GB'r is doing alright, but I think I'd see some performace boosts as well as the added space with a 60GB. I'd like to move my music onto it, and with a 20GB drive it gets kinda tight. I'm always conscious of my saving, and I'd like to have a little more mobile freedom.
Anyways, I'm just looking to see how much these would go for on the forums. I'm looking for a 60GB HD, @ 5400 RPM. I've compared Newegg and Tiger Direct, and am just looking for a a nice used HD to cut costs. Nothing spectacular.
Thanks!

if i were you, id spend a little extra and get a new one. you can get a 60gb on newegg for around $40-50 (i recently got a 80gb one for around $65+shipping). laptop drives are delicate, and you want to know where its been. just my 2cents :).

Not really. I have a 40GB drive that I threw in a box months and months ago while I was rushing to finish packing when I moved, then left the box in storage for a while, where it got bounced around some more, between loading it on a truck, unloading it, moving, and everything else. I figured I'd left it behind at the old house, but then my brother came down and said he found it in a box while he was unpacking. Took it, plugged it in, and its been working ever since. :D
I've also bounced lots of laptops on accidents. No dead hard disks.

40-50 would certainly be within my budget, just not right this moment. My paypal has been bone dry ever since I bought the Tibook and an iBook at the same time (got amazing deals on both)
I'd maybe get a new one, but then I'd be tempted to make the jump to 7200 RPM. They always have some spectacular deal (so it seems) that will make me burn 40 extra bucks that I really dont need to spend. Looking to keep it simple, and 5400 will be enough to see an improvement.
I guess I was just hoping someone would just have one laying around wanting to get rid of it. I may end up going for a new one, but I'm always looking to save a buck. :D
