Could you post so much, that you could become a god or a moderator. This will be interesting to know.

Yes, because mods are chosen only by their daily post counts.

Nazmac, you seem like a nice person, and we're glad to have you here, but ... this is like a manic episode. Can you please calm down and stop making these threads?

I don't know specifically, but I imagine you can't become a God without being somehow involved with the founding or day-to-day operations of MacRumors. Likewise, I imagine that "Moderator" status is reserved for those people appointed to be such.

Looking at the mods we have, I'd say displaying a certain levelheadedness in threads is the key to whether you are asked to become a mod next time there's a need for a new one. They're also quite well distributed through the forums, so someone who spends all their time in, for instance, Community Discussion is never going to be asked to replace a mod who normally inhabits Digital Photography.

Post count will not help you in any other way than give the gods the opportunity to judge your personality to see whether you're suitable.

Demi-Godness is totally different though. You can get that just by bribing Arn with US$25 :)

As an aside to the original topic - what makes someone a "Contributor?"

I've noticed that "level" a few times lately and not quite sure what the distinction is there.

I think a Contributor is the same as Demi-God but a different name.

When you pay your $25, you can choose Contributor or Demi-God(ess) status.

Well, once you realize how much extra work you cause the mods by posting ridiculous threads like this, (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=237954) or this one (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=283508) requiring special attention, many have contributed out of guilt and remorse.;)

Any mod might want to explain what happened to my post?

Anyway, somebody is definitely bored. 50 posts per day?
I am speechless.

just keep up the high quantity posting, you'll get the results you deserve.

I'm sure people who become mods get there at least in part by way of longevity; posting lucid, relevant messages; being polite, fair and mature; obeying the rules; and (from what I've seen in other forums) not asking all the time, "Can I be a mod? Can I be a mod? Can I be a mod?"

If you meet at least those qualifications, then the rest is all a matter of whom you're willing to sleep with. :D

He's going to get a PM from jsw very soon. When I was trying to get to 6502, I made 15 or 20 posts a day, and he deleted half of them:D

Personally, I think the way to do it is to make posts every 3-4 minutes, start random threads, and have little to nothing to contribute.
Can someone please send this one to the Wasteland??? Please?

naz- for your awesome ibook idea, i would recommend that you get in touch with macgeek2005 (http://forums.macrumors.com/member.php?u=66285) about him buying you a g5 machine that you can take the processor from and modify your ibook g4. i think that with the combination of your technical know how and his financial backing, we could potentially have the next steve jobs/woz, bill gates sort of tandem

he is all about helping purchase computers for those who need help with it, so get in touch with him. (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=206990)

Please take these posts to heart...I think everyone here is glad whenever a new member comes on board, and to some extent the enthusiasm and the eagerness to help is appreciated, but do try to chill out a little or you will end up alienating a lot of regular members and/or burning yourself out.

When I first joined it took about 2 years to become a regular poster. The last thing on my mind was an avatar.
