Feeler: Dell 2005FPW (20" LCD Monitor)

I'm hoping to get a 20" iMac which would essentially leave me without a use for my current 20" Dell monitor so I figured if the price is right, I'll get rid of it....

Its in perfect condition. No dead pixels or anything like that.. I've got the DVI and Analog cables for it.

Any warranty left? I heard some backlight problem with 2005fpw.

I'm honestly not sure.. I see that the new model comes w/ a 3 year warranty - if the 2005FPW also does (did) the yes, there would still be warranty left as I purchased it in September of 2005.

I have a 2005fpw, extremely close to ACD in performance, only weaknesses are the same as the ACD, some backlight bleed (not uneven, just existent), viewing angle isn't 180 like some newer monitors, but these are simply problems inherent in S-IPS monitors which are superior in every other regard.

For the record if anyone cares, I also slightly prefer the 2405 to the 2407.

I'd like another one, but not before other purchases.

I personally think a 2005 with no dead pixels etc. is a better option than a (probably) non S-IPS 2007 with unknown pixels, which would set you back closer to $400.

It's definitely not better than an S-IPS 2007, but with a 2005 you're guaranteed an S-IPS panel identical to those in a 20" ACD, while 2007's, especially newer ones, are becoming S-PVA.

Ooooh, this is incredibly tempting, considering I was waiting for Leopard to be bundled with a mini...I'll have to check my available funds. Are you able to extend the warranty beyond what Dell gives you? To say a 4 or 5 year plan? Thanks much!

I'm not sure.. i can't find anything on well's website about extending a warranty, so I"m not sure if its even doable..
