I've decided to sell my Mac Pro, definitely this time.

I bought it in September.
2.66Ghz
1Gb RAM
Stock 16x Sony Dual-layer superdrive
Pioneer 16x DL DVD+/- superdrive
250Gb SATA
160Gb SATA
GeForce 7300GT GPU
Original box, foam, and inserts. Not a scratch on it and it'll look new once packaged again.
KB, Mighty mouse, restore discs.

I'm lookin for the Mac Rumors vets on this forums... where do you think is a good hoping price of selling my Mac Pro?

I bought it in September.
2.66Ghz
1Gb RAM
2 Dual-layer superdrives
250Gb SATA
160Gb SATA
Original box, foam, and inserts. Not a scratch on it and it'll look new once packaged again.

Anyways, I was hoping maybe ITASOR, ReanimationLP, techsound, getbigg21, and Moviecutter could give me their estimated opinions. Thanks guys!

i would say 1800-1900, man i want one!

Well, I'm definitely not one of the seasoned MR members you've asked to contribute, but here's my opinion, hopefully not too ignorant:

(this all assumes you have stock 7300 video)

Refurb costs $2200, you've added a 160 HDD and a Superdrive, maybe $100, but used up half the 1 year warranty.

Therefore, I say same price as a refurb, start at $2200 shipped. I doubt you'd ever need to drop below $2000, but for some folks refurb from apple would beat used from random person.

Octos could of course drop the value a bit, mainly if quads drop in price when octos are introduced. Unless the case design or other vital specs change you won't lose much value.

Clearly, what you want is a MBP to replace it with :D

Thanks MacCheetah3. I was thinking around that price.

It would be nice to swap it for a MBP, but i need the cash to pay my credit card bills. Hence I'm just going to hope to get a 2Ghz Macbook and use the rest of the cash to pay my bill.

Hey, what video card do you have in that?

Thanks,

No worries man. I would have a very hard time letting go of it anyway. I just need to add a MacPro to the stable.

Just a complete way out there for me, but what would you want in the way of cash if I threw a 2 month old Core 2 Duo White Macbook with 2GB RAM your way?

Oooh. I've been selected to the special club. :D

Seeing as an Apple Refurb is 2200, I dont see why you cant get around that amount with the Dual DVD-RWs and the extra 160GB SATA drive. Does it have a warranty?

It's still under its year warranty, but I haven't purchased Applecare for it yet.

i know you said you wanted money

but you never know an offer might make you change your decision.

How about i trade you my 17"macbook pro 2.33 for the macpro?

As appealing as your offer may be... i really need the money. I doubt I'll have an easier time selling off a 17" MBP, plus I'd rather not have to go through another sale if I can find someone w/ cash and a MB.

I have a Black MacBook CD with 2 GB RAM plus cash that I might be willing to trade. How much cash would you need to come to the table?

Thanks!

Winchest.. you have PM.

I'm still looking for someone to trade with on this. I'm open to MBP's or MB's.

Man, I'd really love this. I have a MB 2.0 C2D with 2GB RAM as we discussed. I'm just a bit worried about making this swap so close to potential 8-core announcements which could mean cheaper 4-core MP's. If you have a revised figure in mind for me at all, please do shoot me a PM.

Ryan T, you have PM.

Also, does anyone with a Black Macbook interested in trading? Please let me know. Thanks

Hey, out of curiosity, for those who've sold their Macbook Pro's or Mac Pro's on Ebay... how much was deducted from fees if you sold something for $2000 there?

I have a fully upgraded Black Macbook with 2GB RAM and 160GB Hard drive in mint condition. I would trade plus $400 cash. I have all boxes and manuals.

Hey, out of curiosity, for those who've sold their Macbook Pro's or Mac Pro's on Ebay... how much was deducted from fees if you sold something for $2000 there?

For a $2000 item, the final value fee is $48. The insertion fee depends on what extras you use and all that, but when I host my own photos, have a gallery photo, a subtitle, and a bold title, it's usually around $2... so for a $2000 item, you're probably looking at around $50 taken by eBay.

Paypal takes 2.9% + $.30.. so on a $2k item, you're looking at around $58 (more, depending on what shipping was).

Thanks xfiftyfour. So if i sell my Mac Pro on Ebay... i should expect to lose $120 just on fees?

As for shipping, i always ship with UPS, tracking, insurance, and adult signature to keep things safe. So that's like an added $10 to whatever the shipping cost of a Mac Pro would be.

As for the MR who would swap a black macbook + $400, I'm sorry, I' can't do that trade since i'm looking for more cash. I'd rather take a stock MB + more cash than a pumped machine + low cash.

I'm also trying to sell my Mac Pro on eBay...looking for a mid-range MacBook Pro :-\ Sucks because this thing is already only 6 months old, and sounds like I'd be losing close to $800 once the AppleCare and 3GB of RAM are taken into consideration. I have 5 days left for the auction, so I'll let you know what it goes for.

...unless someone is looking to trade? :)

Well, todays the last day I'm looking for someone with a Macbook to swap my Mac Pro with. If anyone else out there is interested, please let me know. If not, i'm just going to sell it outright. I want to save myself the hassle of having to search for a Macbook to buy later on...but I haven't had any interested parties close a deal with yet.

I'm 100% selling my Mac Pro. Bills are due soon and I need to pay the credit debts.

Pictures are up now.

I'm still looking for a swap with a macbook + cash.

Hey. Try Craigslist. It's free and you'll get local people. I'd do that first before I went to ebay an I love ebay.

EHUnlucky7x9@ao
Apr 2, 2007, 08:34 PM
i tried craigslist, but the buyer that i found wants me to hook up the computer and i don't know where i can go to hook my system up. I don't want a random person in my house as well. So we couldn't agree on how to go about it. I even offered to put a video of the machine on youtube, pictures, and show my feedbacks and rep. Yet it was just unagreeable. So i'd rather do it ebay style.

The Mac Pro has been sold and shipped to 4JNA.

I sold my Powerbook and shipped the Mac Pro the same day and I was left with no machine at home. Gave me a problem since I couldn't get online. But all's well with communication now. I rebuilt my Windows 98 machine! Took me a bit of time searching for the parts in my box-o-parts...but i got it!
