PS3 and PC Monitors

Can't seem to find a straight answer to this question online, at least not from somewhere I trust.

Can you hook up a PS3 to a regular PC monitor via DVI ? If its a non-HDCP monitor will it work for games and not movies, or not at all?

My monitor is a 1680x1050 non-HDCP Philips - presumably if I hooked up a PS3 to it, it'd display in 1280x720 (720p) ?

Can anyone comment on a PS3 - Dell 24" TFT combination from personal experience, as it has >Full HD resolution?

I bought an HDMI to DVI cable and hooked it up to a NON-hdcp compatible monitor(HP 19" flat panel)....ITS DOESN'T work at all.
You need to make sure the monitor and cable are boht HDCP ready.
(as i hear it some HDMI to DVI cables are not HDCP certified)
