Is anyone here a joost beta tester who has tokens to donate? I would love to participate. I am on the waiting list, but who knows.

I think i looks really nice. I like the interface, but i have only used it on a windows machine since im still on the PPC chip. The software has all the potential, but it all comes down to the content. And right now there isn't much interesting stuff, but they keep promising us that when it goes puplic the content will be much more interesting "If you book them they will come" :D

what is joost anyway?

i have a joost account...and it is more or less useless. they don't really have any content yet (just a few music videos and almost no mainstream tv shows); the browser crashed several times for me; and the resolution is almost as crappy as watching something on youtube.
it's just flash-tv. (which i think is starting to set a pretty poor standard of what people will accept. it's very strange - half of the world is out there buying hd tvs and everyone on this board wants razor-sharp images on their computers; and then the other half doesn't care about the terrible image resolution and sound quality that comes with watching flash-rendered tv shows).

i think i have some invites that i could give out, but you will probably be disappointed. (obviously, i was).

And to agree with cmccarten the content is pretty much useless. I downloaded it to see what it was all about and there's nothing really that excites me. I find the quality to be OK on my 17'' iMac. I do see that in the future it become more useful maybe with some actual download/iPod compatible content or at least higher resolution.

That is incorrect. It works fine outside the US. I use it in Aberdeen, Scotland.

The content will likely improve shortly. The software is only beta at the moment and they recently signed a deal with Viacom.

If you signed up for the Beta Testing of Joost, then expect your password soon, seems they are sending out global invites. This was an email i got the other day! Save's paying £25 for the invite.

Joost has closed it's beta program. This was posted on their website on March 20.

We're reaching another big milestone this week. After months of testing with many thousands of users, we're ready to move Joost on to the next stage of its development.

In preparation for this we're closing down applications for the beta testing program on the website at the end of Thursday (GMT). Between this time and the public availability of Joost, access will be by invitation from beta testers only.

So this is last call to apply via the website!

The good news is, that everyone who applies before we close will get access to try out Joost within the next couple of weeks - how is that for a treat? :o)

I finally got my invite through the blog I posted earlier.. I have to say that i m impressed with the quality of Joost however, there's still allot of work to be done channels-wise.. nothing worth watching at the moment. At the same time, I've read on CBS that they've got a deal to broadcast on Joost, so i m excited about that and looking forward to be watching SEC football and NFL games.. :)

You have to wait awhile, I think it takes a few weeks before you're allowed to give out invites. At least it took my account like 3 weeks before I was able to.
