Was wondering with the recent sales of Apple's software licke iLife, if Apple is considering selling their desktop hardware as just barebones like the PC counter parts.
Imagine a 15" iMac 700Mhz with just the OS X installed and shipped with the necessary system software to do just basic stuff--surf the net, text editor, cd player, dvd player, quicktime, well you get the drift.
This way they can actually reduce prices and consumers can actually buy software that supports the hardware as they need it. Buying a Mac when you dont got any DV camcorder, makes no sense to have iMovie or iDVD installed or even shipped with your system. This will allow reduce costs, and maybe increased sales to switchers or even increase marcket share.
What do you think?
