I am thinking of getting rid of my customized Mac Mini with a 2GHz Core 2 Duo chip. This also has 2GB DDR2 RAM, Superdrive, 80GB HDD, and the WIFI/BT. I really want to trade for a laptop, Powerbook + cash or maybe a Macbook Pro in some way. All cash is also an option but lets see what happens.

Before everyone asks, I have been using this system for about 2 months now everyday without any issues. I did the installation myself as I do run a computer repair shop in my hometown. Any questions just let me know.

Up for offers, located in Norwalk, CT incase someone is in the Fairfield county and is interested, thanks!

Upgrading the cpu in the mini is a fairly simple drop-in affair. If you can manage to open the mac mini case (which is relatively easy as well), the job is really fairly simple.

I've installed a core 2 duo 1.66ghz to replace the core duo in my mac mini, and even at the same clock speed, the core 2 duo is 10-15% faster.

Here's a link with lots of pics that I've found with a quick google search:

Went for $950 on craigslist to a local guy, does some light video editing so it worked out for him since he didn't have to buy a mac pro. all my offers for this place were about 600 bucks so i don't think there is a market for faster minis here :D

I think rather that people here aren't willing to pay for a pre-modded system with no warranty, since (1) most of us could do it ourselves, and (2) it'd be sight unseen. Selling to someone local he was, presumably, able to test it out to his satisfaction before paying.

Glad you were able to sell it though! :) I'm looking forward to upgrading a mini, but I'll be waiting for cheap C2Ds! $250-300 is a bit ... excessive in a $600 computer, IMO. :p

nope for the most part people on macrumors are looking for more than a steal...they want robbery...I think $950 is a great price for it and is what I was thinking you could get on ebay....a 1st generation 1gb mac mini still goes for about $450 on ebay so I would expect the modded c2d one to go for that price

One with a slightly higher spec went for £673 ($1200+) (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UPGRADED-Apple-Mac-Mini-Intel-Core-2-Duo-2-16ghz-2gb_W0QQitemZ170090735211QQcategoryZ101189QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) on eBay UK earlier this week.

Damn, that guy got a good deal! Core2duo chips arent exactly cheap. (granted not a fortune either, but even a stock coreduo 1.66 mini brings decent money)
