17" powerbook using panther

will the new 17" powerbook that i put 3k down on be able to use Mac OS 10.3? Knowing that it's 64 bit, and the G4 is 32 bit? Will 10.3 be compatible with "older" hardware?

We do not KNOW that Panther will be 64 bit native, and even if it was I'm sure they'd have a 32 bit version available. It would alienate a lot of users (actually ALL users at this point) to have it 64 bit only.

If Panther is 64 bit native, it will absolutely work with 32 bit processors. Remember when OS 9 did not have real support dual processors and we waited a long time for Mac OS X? Well Mac OS X works with the dual and single processors. Similar story, but the end result is compatibility. Have no fear. . .

The 17" PB will definitely be able to run Panther. That PB is basically Apple's flagship product at the moment, so no way will they make their next OS incompatible with it.

Your PB will be able to run all new and upcoming systems for maaany years..

i'm sure everything will run just fine for a while to come. just incase though, i've purchased a one way ticket to Cupertino and giant slingshot that will be used to hurl my 2 week old PowerBook through the windshield of Steve Jobs' car.:mad: :eek: :) :(
