Question about selling

I have never sold anything over forum or ebay before, I am a little apprehensive to sell over a msg board for fear of getting ripped off.

I was looking to sell my slightly used CD Macbook Black (w/ 1gb of RAM added) over the forums, i was going to ask about $1000 for it...any advice for a newbie?

Dont circumvent the classifieds section on these boards?

Make sure you get paid in a way that is fool proof.

Money orders, paypal verified etc.

Make sure you use paypal and you should be safe. You could also limit your transactions to users who have proven records.

Have you bought anything that way? If not, then here's a couple of steps to ease the process (and your mind).


Open a Paypal account. Great middlemen/escrow for guaranteed fund transfer. Worth the minor charges.
Check prices for your Macbook's configuration (Apple refurb, existing eBay prices, your local Craigslist.)
Be honest about what you're asking for it. Remember the price you set will have a major factor in how fast it sells, if at all.
is the $1000 inclusive, or will your buyer pay shipping separately? Most buyers like to see a "final" price, so adjust your asking to cover your costs (Paypal, shipping, insurance).
Where will you ship to? US? North America? Worldwide? Remember, we have a large audience.
