For Sale: a lime iMac (as below, in my siggy.)
The stats:
333 mHz
160 Mb RAM (upgrade)
20 Gb Western Digital HD (upgrade)
It's in great shape: really immaculate. I can post pictures if you want. The little flip-stand underneath is still sealed in the original plastics!
I'm gonna ask $125 shipped, accounting for the condition, rarity, and upgraded condition of this vintage machine. Definitely a collector's piece.

Sorry to break it to you but these are very common and unless you have all the original accessories / box / manuals / install discs, you're probably looking at around the cost of shipping for someone to buy it. Good luck selling though. I actually used to have this exact same machine and I gave it to a friend.

Thanks for the comment. As for the other stuff you said, I'm sure there will be some interest because of the cosmetic shape condition of this machine.
A few more words about the shape of this iMac: the year is 1999 and you just opened a white box. Honestly, that's how it feels.
And there are some pictures now, too.

Out of curiosity, can it run Tiger or Panther? How would that perform for just basic apps such as Safari, iTunes, Word, iChat, and nothing else?
kondspi
Mar 27, 2007, 07:18 PM
It can run those with a piece of freeware called XPostFacto, which modifies the firmware. It's not the fastest Mac on the block, but it's speed on basic applications is decent, considering. Just don't try to run more than two at a time!

It will run Panther fine (give it at least 256MB RAM) and Safari, iChat and Mail will run as snappy as anything. Obviously an install of CS2 or trying to run iMovie on this beast would be out of the question.
I seriously doubt you'll fetch 125 for this unit sadly. It's depressing, because it's still a very functional computer; but the market is simply flooded and their age shows with new apps.

Does it include the original KB and puck mouse?

I don't own those. I do, however, possess keyboards and mice from other iMac G3 systems.
Another thing I think everyone should know: a few days ago, I told my friend I had purchased 2 iMacs and he expressed his interest. I'll probably be able to discuss this with him tomorrow, but he has dibs and I cannot sell this computer without approaching him first.

...Well, I paid $119 for an original Bondi iMac 3 years ago (Stock; 32 MB RAM, 4 gig HD, 233 MHz)
Maybe he'll find another idiot like me.:p

I paid $96 shipped for a stock bondi with 192MB and Panther 3 years ago.
Anyways, Tou can get a Graphite 500MHz iMac in mint condition for $85 locally, and for about $90 shipped for similar models, and even a G4 tower is about $79. Just showing fair market value....

All right. Let's talk market value. Last year, someone gave me a 400/128/10 Graphite DV with a frakked up monitor for free. (I reinstalled the firmware, the display cleared up, and I sold it for $100.)
Every other day, someone on the NY Craigslist offers a few working Rev A, B, or C iMacs as free for pick-up.
But this is not your typical iMac. You'd have to look long and hard to find anything like it. This is a museum-quality machine.

Box, original packing, manuals, discs? Will you double box?

None of the original stuff, besides the computer. I'll double box for another $5 or so.

Mint as it is, it still can't fetch much, because it's not an original model.
An 233MHz model in mint condition can fetch something, as can a 300MHz iBook. My Graphite iMac DV SE is in pristine condition, but I can never expect $100+ for it.

Sorry, these things are only worth money if they have the original packaging and box (yea, that's what us collectors really want).
I remember an LC complete in box with EVERYTHING including the original cords and twist-ties on eBay went for $795. And countless other cool old Macs with complete in box that went for lots more than by themselves.
Sorry, maybe you can sell it locally on Craigslist?

I think people are underestimating these things. If it's in mint condition, it's obviously worth at least $75.

No tape. Some of the original plastics remain on the unit.
I will seriously consider the trade for the 19" monitor. My friend's coming to see it next Weds, so my verdict and final judgment on the status of this iMac will come then.
Also, I would appreciate some restraint on the part of the nixers. I do not need a thread full of "This iMac isn't worth that much" postings. I do appreciate your opinions, but a) the price is firm and b) your posts are getting to be redundant. The opinion that this iMac may be worth less than the posted amount has been expressed on this thread. Unless you have a new point to make with regards to the pricing of this machine, that ground has been covered, so please form another thread somewhere else to discuss the value of tray-loading iMacs.
Thanks for understanding.

Thanks. I did take a look at it online, so you don't really need to.
No cosmetic flaws, dead/stuck pixels, or anything?
I'm going to assume you would send it to me with the AC adapter and VGA cable.

Hey danielem,
I think we could probably go through with the trade now. We won't have to wait 'till Weds. Anyway, I'd like one more thing: some proof that you're a decent seller. I'd like to see the records of a transaction in which you've sold or traded something of relative value. And, for the sake of equality, I shall be happy to provide you with the following:
My eBay screenname, mrflyingwetnose, under which I have sold 2 clamshell iBooks for $300+ each.
My MacRumors/MacNN/LEM Swap screenname, kondspi (hmm?), under which I have sold an iPod, an iBook, and some other stuff.

I'll boot it up to make sure it's in good working condition. I'll get back to you on that.

Sorry to have kept you waiting. I was actually able to find a working iMac locally for a really good price. The LCD is working perfectly if you're still intrested in it. Let me know.

Thanks.

Nope, nope, and 9.2 on the HD.
You're not going to find a tray loading iMac with DVD or FW, FYI.
