View Full Version : Copperfieldesque Harddrive Issue...

Okay, I thought I was clever a while ago and managed to make my hard drive icon disappear from the desktop. Now there's nothing at all on my desktop and I access everything through the keystroke shortcuts or the Dock.
The problem is, I can't remember how I made the hard drive icon disappear.. and thus I can't get it back (which I'd like to be able to do in case the "empty desktop" thing becomes no longer interesting to me).
Any ideas?

Just bop over to the utilities folder and remount it.

If the harddisk was unmounted than the machine would not work at all. Plus, OS X will not allow you to unmount the startup volume in the first place.
To get your hard drive back, click the "Finder" menu and select preferences. There is an option there to show the Hard Disk on the desktop.

os 9 or 10?
you probably just moved it outside the "desktop" space... like it is floating just to the left or right of your monitor. You think? If so, just go --> arrange by name.

Excellent. I figured it had to be something simple for me to overlook it. :D
Thanks!
