People have asked me how much I want for this? That's the point of a feeler - I don't know.

OK here is my thinking: If you paid $600 you could upgrade for $700 and be even with Apple's $1,300 price for FCP. You'd be nuts to to this. Easier to simply buy straight from Apple.

But let's say you wanted FCP at 25% off. That's a savings of $325. It takes about an hour to do all the upgrades. but to some people the hassle is worth the savings. So that would mean $275 might be a fair price.

I'm reall asking you all: What should I list this at?

I think technically the answer is "yes". It would work but it would be like using a 7 year old video editing system. They were slow back then. In 2007 peole expect real-time redering and everything to be instant and fast. Back then people just got up and made coffee while the beach ball spun. Also remember DV take up 12GB per hour of space. If you want to edit a few tapes you'd need move scratch space to hold the video files. But you could be very carfull and only import the stuff you need - again you'd have to work like people did 7 or 8 years ago.

The person who sold me this ran a small video production company using an (approx) 400Mhz G4 tower with 384MB or RAM and FCP 2. This was a "killer system" when new.

Later he upgraded the processor to 1.2Ghz and bought later versions of FCP up to 4. He said it was OK for standard (non-HD) video editing.

My opinion is "You need more RAM. Lots more." If you are going to do any video work, max out the RAM.
