2GHz Black MacBook Core Duo

I'm just trying to get a feel as to what my laptop could fetch on here or eBay.

I'm the original owner of this laptop, I bought it May 16th, 2006, so it'll be one year old this coming May '07. The laptop was purchased with the extended Applecare warranty so you're covered until May 16th, 2009 I believe.

Comes with original box, documentation, and accessories (Install DVDs for Tiger, Apple Remote, etc).

This laptop has only gone for service once, due to the trackpad not working correctly, the problem was remedied with a new top case replacement, so the machine is in perfect working order and has been all it's life, no Rev A. product problems here.

The complete specs:
2GHz Intel Core Duo (Not Core 2) Processor
2GB of 667MHz DD2 SDRAM
2MB L2 Cache (Per Processor)
80GB SATA HD (5400RPM)
64MB of Shared VRAM (Intel GMA 950)
13.3-inch (Diagonal) Glossy TFT Widescreen Display With 1280 x 800 Pixel Resolution
Superdrive (DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Bluetooth 2.0
Airport Extreme (Not N, just B/G)
1 FireWire 400 Port, 2 USB 2.0 Ports, Mini-DVI Port
Gigabit Ethernet
SMC is updated (1.4f12)

Laptop has been well cared for, and when it leaves the house it's always in a case, comes from smoke free home, all components in working order, I've been using an iSkin keyboard cover since the top case replacement, it was taken off for picture taking.

If you have any questions you can email me (larry [AT] amacgenius [DOT] com), IM me (mygeniusbar), or send me a private message.

I've been wanting a Macbook... been looking on eBay intently for the past few days. Prices seem to vary a lot, but with your specs and it being black, I'm guessing $1100 worse case scenario. Could break $1300.. Good luck.

If, out of the kindness of your heart, you'll go $1,000 on it; I'll take it :)

Thanks for the heads up. But it only has 512MB, I'm guessing on 2x256MB sticks . After tax (8.25% in California -- ARGH!!!) and after-market ram upgrade, I'm looking at 1200 or so. :(

However this one is maxed out with RAM, and has Applecare extended.

Your Macbook is a great Deal, and you are correct about the RAM config. I was giving him an option since he said for $1000.00 he would buy your rig. Sorry if it seemed I dumped on your thread.... that was not my intention. You have a great Mac for a great price. Cheers! :D

Where did you take that pic of the warranty?

Go to the Apple Support Site (http://support.apple.com), scroll down until you see this:

Enter your serial number and hit go, and you'll see how much is left on your warranty :).

$1200 would probably be about right.

You'd probably get more if you put back the original 512MB and sold the 1GB chips separately.

I'm leaving early tomorrow morning for Florida for the week, and taking the MacBook with me, so any offers sent will probably not be read until I get back unless I happen to log online.

Obviously everybody can figure why I'm bringing this back to life, I want one of the new MacBook Pros, so to actually get it I'd have to sell my main machine.

So this is completely open to offers!

I presume the Apple Care was not extended? Anyway I sent a PM

Actually the Applecare was extended on it, I've got a little under 2 years still on it, because it just past it's first birthday on May 16th.

Edit: Here's a screenshot taken today of my warranty status:

Can somebody chime in and tell us what you think is fair price for this unit?

Thanks

I'd say around 1200 or so.

Pretty sharp condition for a year old laptop. Plus then it has Applecare.

It's traveled off the desk maybe 3 times to my school for presentations so yeah it's pretty good condition, plus before I'd ship it, I'd give it a nice cleaning (http://macapper.com/2007/03/14/how-to-clean-your-black-macbook/).

Aha. So THATS your secret. :D

My Dell lappys in pretty decent shape for me getting it used from a business, and it doing a lot of travelin' though.

My iBook looks all war-torn and a bit tired, but he keeps goin' like a lil trooper.

$1,200? Come on. It's a Core Duo. Granted it's got memory upgrade and AppleCare, but I just bought one of these, exact same specs without AppleCare off MacNN for my mother for $860 shipped, and that was before the latest update. I'd say $1,000-1,050ish shipped is more reasonable for a forum price...

Yea, I can't do $1200. Thats almost refurbed Macbook Pro territory:( .

But I do have to admit the unit looks nice and clean and well cared for!

Hmm... I'd say 1200 on eBay, around 1000-1050 here.

Some people on eBay are a wee bit crazy.

Actually I have yet to actually use that method of cleaning this laptop, up until now I've just been wiping it down with (believe it or not) a Marware Protection Pack Plus (http://www.marware.com/PRODUCTS/Apple-Laptop-Products/Protection-Pack-Plus-for-MacBook) keyboard cover cloth (non abrasive), and that's done the trick so far.
