I am looking for a reasonably priced PC laptop. Brand doesn't really matter, but I would like it to be fast enough to run XP or possibly Vista with some upgrading (without all the Aero stuff and everything). P4+/Celeron or AMD equivalent would be the best.

If anyone has something let me know, I am NOT looking to spend a lot...keep in mind sometimes you can get these cheapo DELLs on sale for really cheap...that's what I'm looking for.

EDIT: I am now considering desktops! I do not need a monitor, keyboard, mouse, or operating system.

Thanks! :)

Hello. You're request is reasonable and I'm sure that you will get many, many replies.

However, you took the time to specify a processor preference and P4 is different then Celeron performance wise, just as an AMD Sempron would be different than AMD Turion.

I just wanted you to keep that in mind.

I have a Dell Inspiron, E1505. It's pretty nice. 15" screen, Intel Core Duo 1.6ghz, 1GB Ram, DVD-RW Burner, 120GB Hard Drive, Blue Tooth, upgraded to N wireless. It has VGA Out, 4 USB, 1 firewire, Card Reader, CardBus 32 Slot, 100MB Ethernet, 56k Modem, Windows XP Installed to factory with CDs. No major scratches, No dead pixels.

I paid about $1200 for it. I am willing to let it go for $750.

It's barely used. Mostly I use it when I need to go out of town, which is rare.

I know I wasn't specific. What I meant by that was I'm not looking for anything like a PIII, 233Mhz.....etc. I was something somewhat newer. I would probably consider a PIII though...I'm sure I could upgrade the RAM and run XP fine. Nothing below 800Mhz please.

And sorry, but I'm not looking to spend anywhere near 600-700...I'm looking for someone's crappy PC laptop that they just want to get rid of.

It has 256 MB memory, DVD drive, WinXP, small HD and Power Supply.

Runs XP super, lightweight magnesium case (5lbs or so). Great condition too.

One downside, needs its keyboard replaced, $20-40 on Ebay. Model is Acer TravelMate TXV613 / 614. Speedstep works to throttle to 700, battery is very weak.

Will sell for $125.

Sure I will get the ASAP as I just upgraded my wife to a new HP (I know I still can't covet her to apple) I really don't get off work until 8 am Monday. I will post then if that's ok with you. I'm not looking for that much for it..

I know you said you weren't looking for anything to great and weren't looking to spend $600-$700 but I thought this might interest you. If you want to run Vista, this would be great for you.

I am selling a 17" Gateway M680 with:
1.83GHz Pentium M or a 1.6GHz Pentium M overclocked to 2.13GHz (100% stable); You pick.
nVidia Quadro FX 1400 (roughly equivilent to go 6800)
17" Glossy LCD @ 1680x1050 (same as the 20" Apple ACD)
40GB 5400rpm HD
1GB of DDR2 RAM
DVD-RW Drive
AC Adapter
Windows XP Professional
4 USB, 1 FW400 (4-pin), Gigabit Eth, 56K, VGA, S-Video, Memory Card reader, PCMCIA (or whatever it is called, I never use it), Wireless B/G.

$650 shipped.

The top case has one patch that is a bit scratched less than a square inch. The LCD screen has no dead pixels but it does have a tiny nik that causes a white spot on an all black screen. I rarely see it anymore. The motherboard was replaced by Gateway 6 months ago.

Thanks for posting it, but like I said, there's no possible way I can spend this much. I'm more looking for an older or beat up used laptop.

Haha, I appreciate you guys posting, but I've stated numerous times that it's not possible for me to pay $600+ for a PC laptop at this time.

I am not looking for something like this. I am looking for an older, used, PC laptop that still has a little life left in it that someone is looking to get rid of for a cheap, good price.

I have an IBM Thinkpad X40 that I would sell for somewhere around $650. You can see the particulars here:

Are you joking? Did the OP not JUST post about thirty times that he doesn't want to spend a lot? Give me a break.

I have a couple of older Dells which I'd let go for very little. They're only running Windows 2000 though and have only 128MB of RAM. I can post more details if you have interest, but the models are:

Dell CSx
Dell Latitude C600

Let me know!

I have a Dell Latitude C610 that I'll be throwing up on eBay this weekend. Thought I'd give you a shot first:

1.2Ghz P3
512MB Ram
40gb HD
14.1" screen

I'd sell it for $260 shipped. Let me know if you're interested.

Edit: BTW, has XP on it now and runs that great. Haven't tested it with Vista, as I imagine that probably wouldn't be a good idea, lol.

I've gotten a few offers so far, but I've been surprised how much these older laptops go for. I wasn't imaging I would have to spend this much to get an older PC laptop...I see new junk ones go on sale for $300-350 sometimes, often $400, and these are new up to date machines.

If anyone is interested in my iBook Clamshell as part of a trade, please let me know, as that will bring my cost down!

Thanks

Hmm, that would be perfect for my needs. Not sure about the overseas shipping though, but maybe if you were willing

I am still looking for a PC laptop...I'm not sure what I want to spend right now, but I really want something to Vista on. Probably nothing too high...I don't know. So, I need something 800Mhz+, I can upgrade the HD and RAM myself if needed.

Thanks!

I updated my first post -- I am not considering desktop PCs too. I figure I can get a way better spec'd one for cheaper, since desktops hold basically no value. :o

I am looking for something above a PIII. Something decent...I can upgrade the graphics and RAM. An AGP slot would be a plus, but isn't totally necessary. I'm expecting to get a lot of offers, so if you could include an asking price with your offer that would be great!

If you can build your own, I would really recommend going that route. You can build a decent PC for dirt cheap these days.

I've got a 750MHz AMD Duron (might be an 800)/384MB/20 (might be 2 drives for total of 40)/somewhat nice video card/wireless KB and optical mouse combo/Windows XP I'd trade straight out for the clamshell if you were interested...

(I haven't used it in a few months, it was running as a server for awhile, I can boot it up and get you the tech specs if you are interested...

Got a 17" monitor you could have too, but the shipping for that would be in your hands...
