Less expensive DVD-R's

I've been looking around and it seems like any DVD-R's I want to buy are around $3/piece. I would only want about 10, if that. I know I'm going to get flamed by all the people who paid $15 for when they just came out but I'm a poor college student.

Also, does anyone recommend the generic 1x DVD-Rs for the 12" powerbook or should I stay with 2x just to be safe?

not sure if I understand you but are you saying you want to pay less than $3 per dvd-r or that you don't mind paying $3 per dvd-r?
anyways apples dvd-r's are now $15 for 5 of them

the best (cheapest) you'll find is

be warned... paying the cheapest price doesn't pay off as much with dvds... i've never had an apple dvd fail for me (though i haven't burned all that many)... i've had several problems with my americal 1x dvds...

What about generic 2x-ers? Where is there a less expensive brand?

Going the way of bargin basement DVD blanks is more than likely going to blow up in yer face. Cheap DVDs are more likely to become coasters while burning, less likely to be read by DVD players, and more likely to degrade to the point of unreadability in just a couple of years.

Considering a best case scenario home made DVD will have about an 80% chance of playing in any given set top player I really don't see the point of making the odds even worse.

Just suck it up and buy some 1x Apple DVD-Rs that are sold in 5 packs for $15. BTW, this advice is coming from someone who had more disposable income in college than he does now.
