For sale is a Fujitsu 40'' Laptop harddrive pulled from an AppleTV. It lost two pins during surgery and maybe somebody who knows their way around drives could take this in?

Disc is otherwise functional except for IDE pins missing. If you have the tools, it is theoretically an easy fix. It is missing the top torx screws as well but I will screw them back in if I can find them.

Looking for $5+actual shipping.

heatware and ebay under taylorwilsdon
Thanks!

Would $9 take care of shipping and the cost of the drive? If so, I'll take it. I've got an old 4 gig laptop hard drive that might be a good donor for pins.

That sounds spot on. These drives are tiny and don't weight much so I'm sure $4 would cover priority.

If you want it, you can send paypal to taylor@taylorwilsdon.com

Thanks.

So you opened the drive? If so, you definetly might have harmed it. If there is dust or something else inside. you might want to clarify that, as the drive may not work if you did open it.

It has never been opened. I removed a few of the screws and realized it wasn't worth the trouble.

Even removing one screw can 'screw' (pardon the pun) with the inner workings of the drive, as they are hermetically sealed and even a spec of dust or foreign matter can crash the platter.

I wouldn't say hermetically sealed, some HDD's have vent holes to allow heat to escape.

Those never actually enter the area where the platter is just where the motor is.

Those hit the outer black casing, never inside the actual drive.

Removing a screw or two off the top isnt going to kill the drive.

After the facinating debate about the potentially "screwed" drive, I'll take it. :) I just need your PayPal address to send the $9.

Thanks.
