Announced in October 2005, the iMac (iSight) was the first Mac to include an integrated iSight camera. In addition to a slimmer, lighter case, the iMac (iSight) included a faster processor, faster bus and memory speed, and a faster graphics chip set. It also included a remote control and Apple's new Front Row software, which allowed the iMac (iSight) to act as a home media center.

Just an FYI folks, I'm very happy to announce that this machine sold last night on ebay for $1477.

Yes, I am stunned as well.

It just goes to show that a well planned ebay auction always brings the most money. Fantastic. I bought this computer a year and a half ago for $1199, I spent about $200 on the ram chip and I came out at $1477. Interestingly, I payed 6.5% tax on the imac when I bought it, and that comes out to $77.93. I am tickled pink. I got back almost to the dollar, the exact amount I put into it.

Wow.

And I've already been payed. Awesome.

:D

As an investment the imac will certainly give pork futures a run.

I don't get how you sold it for such a high amount!
The extra RAM is great but it's still a PPC Mac which is pretty well outdated now.

How did you manage to sell it for its original price?

I once sold a used white MB for the same amount as a brand new black macbook.

Congrats to the OP!

I think you got it on the nose there... the auction clearly stated iMac G5, the bidders just don't know the difference. There were multiple bidders who went above the $1200 mark (which is where I hoped it would end) but I didn't honestly expect it to go for more than $1100. I'm thrilled to death, but still scratching my head and wondering... why would anyone pay that much?

A tip to all other sellers, ending the auction on a Sunday night is the best thing you can do. It has always ended well for me.

Sunday evening has always been a peak time for sales - I have always set my auctions up to end at or around 10:00 pm EST/EDT.

FWIW, I just listed a 15" 1.67MHz G4 PowerBook with 2G of RAM, 18 months of AppleCare and a bunch of other goodies. The auctions I've been watching for similar but not as nice machines have been topping out around $1200.

Absolutely amazing. You can buy a refurb for less than that.
