If you have anything similar (I am not looking for a Motherboard) that will work with those parts, let me know.
I am also looking for at least a CD-RW optical drive. Maybe a DVD-ROM/DVD-RW drive is the price is right. :D

I wouldnt suggest that case. I had that case.

It was junk. Paper-thin metal. Installing the mobo and standoffs warped it slightly. I know its cheap, but remember, if it bends, and shorts out your components, its gonna cost a whole lot more.

Always pick a decent case.

Advice well taken.

Any suggestions that won't break the bank?

are you only looking for those specific products?

we have a 2.8Ghz Pentium D processor (800Mhz FSB, 2MB Cache) that's just gathering dust. I'm no good with PC parts, so if you're interested but need more info (socket size, for instance) let me know and I'll ask my fiance what it is.

I would like to know what the socket etc type is.

That would put me with another motherboard obviously but that's no big deal. ;)

All Pentium Ds are 775. Those bastards didnt make one in a 478.

I'd recommend anything made by Antec personally.

Though, those Dynex cases they sell at Best Buy are pretty decent too.

This is one of their nicest cases : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129155

And it comes with a decent power supply too. Its not too much more when you consider that your getting a nice decent PSU and case for a bit more than the el-cheapo Rosewill and the 400w Silverstone.

Edit: It's this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116213) processor.

I have a A8N32 SLI Deluxe MB paired with an AMD X2 4600+ if you choose to go the AMD way! $350 is probably too much for you though...

(For $400 all of that plus a PNY 7300gt PCIe video card too)

definitely go with a DVD drive, nowadays you can't do much with just CD

also, why are yo going with a Micro ATX Mobo, unless your building a sub-compact system, just go with ATX. you may also want a better case, check out dealnews.com and see if they have any good deals for ones Free after Mail in rebates, and they sometimes have good PC components too

I MAY want to sell my video card, XFX 7900gs, because i am getting a good hob this summer, i may be able to upgrade.

It's sad you aren't looking for a full system, as I want to sell my late husband's pc, great system worth about $700, I'm trying to get $620 for it...

ok, just to check. if you are doing this for the pleasure of snapping parts together, great. added up ballpark numbers based on your newegg list and you are at $491 (-$20 if you actually get the rebate  ) and still don't have an OS (linux?) or optical drives.

how about something like THIS (http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=ASE650-U-P9301-R&cat=SYS) if you are actually just wanting a computer. faster computer for the same money, and comes with a warranty which is nice since peecee's are known to break now and then...

lurking/clearance/open box are your friends. :) best of luck either way!

I can get free optical drives.

I have linux distros, namely Gentoo to install. Plus I have both a copy XP and Vista Business (all free from my school)

:D
