My G4 iMac died on me a while ago, and i've finally started doing something about selling the parts. They came from an 800MHz 17" G4 iMac (Rev B)
I have;
-17" Display (1440x900)
-power supply
-256MB RAM
-power filter
Pretty sure all of these parts are in good working order. I haven't been able to test them, but they were working last time i used the computer.
How much do you reckon i could get for these parts?
EDIT; here's (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230129038851) a link for the display, more to come tomorrow.

Is that the lamp one? I love those. How much for everything (assuming I could swap out the internals for something new)

Does the display include the arm (or whatever it's called)?

I could use a new one assuming yours is in good shape. More specifically, mine is loose in a way that causes the screen to tilt slightly to the right.
Let me know how much for just the arm, and I might be interested in the whole display depending on the price. :)

yeah it has the whole arm assembly. I think it had a dead spot at certain angles, but it worked most of the time.
I might put them on ebay, so if i do, i'll post links here.
How much do you reckon its worth, someguy?

You'll have to clarify what you mean by "dead spot at certain angles".
The whole display is probably worth a hundred bucks, I would imagine. I really don't know for sure. I know I can find parts machines with working screens for around that much.
Just the arm is probably worth maybe $20-30? I figure this because of low demand. I think anyone who needs the screen already has an iMac G4 and plans to replace their current screen, that's what I'd be doing anyways.
No offense if I am out of line here, but I'd give you $100 shipped for the screen and arm, or $20 shipped for just the arm. :)

You would know how the iMac's arm moves up and down, and left to right, and the display can change angles. In some points of the up-and-down motion of the arm, the screen goes blank. It works at a majority of angles, and it is still very useable. I also forgot to mention it has no dead or stuck pixels :)
$100 is great! It's on ebay, so you might even be able to get it cheaper than that. If you want it shipped via Sea Mail, i can change that as well. That'd cut about $30 AU off the shipping cost.
I couldn't figure out how to remove the arm from the display, and i didn't try to hard either. If i could get my hands on a dead arm and screen assembly, i might have a go.

Hm. Considering that "screen going blank" issue, I'd probably rather keep what little money I have and stick with my current 15" screen for now.
Let me know if you figure out how to get the arm off, I'd gladly buy it from you!
Best of luck with your auction. :)

It doesn't do it that often, and I found it still very useable. Most of the time i didn't notice it. You might even be able to pick up the whole thing for $30 on ebay if you're lucky :)
Here are a couple of pics of it. More can be made available at request.

Considering you are in Australia, if I did win the auction for $30, I'd be up near $85-90US after shipping costs (unless I'm calculating something wrong).
I'd gladly give you $30-35US for the setup, but the shipping charges would be an issue.
EDIT: Just found this (http://cgi.ebay.com/APPLE-IMAC-G4-15-NECK-ASSEMBLY-NEW_W0QQitemZ180116375114QQihZ008QQcategoryZ14911QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem). :)

According to Australia Post, it would be ~$60 USD to ship it to the US via Air Mail, or ~$38 USD for Sea Mail. $30 Aussie is about $25 USD on 13th May.
By the way, here's (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/iMac-17-G4-Screen-no-Base-Huge-widscreen-with-cables_W0QQitemZ200108213930QQihZ010QQcategoryZ148166QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) another display on ebay for comparison :)

Can I stick the 17" display on the 15" iMac?

i think so. If anything, the only real problem would be the counterweight, but i reckon it'd work. Where abouts do you live?
