As if getting a G5 wasn't cool enough.
!. Complete transfer fo your existing files to your new G5.
2. Your own Pro Day at the Apple Store.
3. Free installation of any software purchased at this Apple Store.
4. Guaranteed next day apointment with a Mac Genius.
5. Special events.
Doesn't give a end date on this offer. My wife found this at the .mac site. She printed it out, because she wants me to have a G5.
Would like to hear everyones thoughts on this offer!

Oh, I think the Apple Pro Card is very cool. I just wish I could afford a G5. Unfortunately, I can't.
By the way, congrats on being 1st Contributor!

The Willow Bend (Plano, TX) store sales guy presented info on that thing right after the keynote last Monday. Interesting, but you have to buy the G5 at the retail store to get one. That means: a) pay sales tax, b) cannot get my developer discount (I don't think)
here's an Apple.com link about it: http://www.apple.com/retail/procard/

But if you buy the machine online you end up paying sales tax anyway - Apple includes it in all its orders.
And as a 'pro' it really doesn't have that great appeal.....for me setting up a new machine is a fun thing to do - and transferring the files isn't that hard. Starting with a clean system.....mmmm, that would be nice....can't wait to get a new G5 myself.

the pro card seems kinda dumb to me... but i could see it working for switchers or just less geeky computer purchasers (if those people exist)....
i'd rather do all the installing myself. sorting the stuff and whatnot.
it's all about adc anyways. hah

Did the sales guy say how long the promotion of the card will last? How long will the use of the card be in effect?

I got something that I think works better than a card anyway, my Newton MessagePad. And it does help pick up the girls. . . ;)

It looks cool, but will it work, hm... I don't know, but it kinda sucks that you have to buy one directly from them...:(
A lot of people prefer mail order.
I get like every mac mail order there is, mac Mall, Mac Warehouse, Other world computing, Mac Zone...
Too many, but if that card is 1:1 like the picture it is a little bg :p

Is this like the new 'members only jacket' type thing?
Sounds stupid to me.

no. i think the aim is to enable switchers (but people in general too) to more easily transition to the new computer. another incentive to have them buy a mac without worrying much... that's about it
having the g5 is in itself enough of a members only jacket.
