Guardian article (http://www.guardian.co.uk/online/news/0,12597,985885,00.html)

The 100 square mile lump of coral 1,500 miles north-east of New Zealand is to become the first country in the world to have a nationwide wireless internet system. Locals with a laptop and an aerial will be able to surf the net at home, on the beach, in a restaurant, or from a boat.

It's actually talking about Niue, a country near New Zealand, but not part of it. If you want cheap internet, don't come to NZ! While dialup's (apparently) cheap here, broadband is way too expensive (10c per meg, I'm not sure that there are ANY flat-rate broadband services). Well there is a flat-rate DSL for $15/month + ISP, but at 128k it's not really broadband.

Ahh, so this is the island where all those .nu addresses come from... smart idea to sell the rights off to raise money.. but it looks like the connection will be slow for all the sites not based on the island (meaning almost every site) since they're going to be using satellite... but it's a great idea. I like how they're going to be using the palm trees to set up the wireless network, heh.
