I just don't have the restore CD'S. It will come with Tiger installed with the original Tiger DVD included in the sale

Why wouldn't he be allowed to sell it without those things?

The OS I understand if you have it on there you must include it in your sale. As for the boxes who cares

The Apple EULA doesn't allow you to resell their hardware without the original OS discs that came with it, *officially* anyway.

sorry...i thought that it was part of the mac rumors marketplace rules...i could be wrong, but as V&E jst stated apple officially...

# Licensing.

1. You may not offer to buy/sell/trade any computer, hard disk, iPod, Apple TV, or other device containing music, video, unlicensed commercial software, or other software/files/data that is sold commercially. You should reset an iPod or Apple TV to factory settings before offering it for sale or trade. If you are selling/trading a computer with other than the software it originally shipped with (or free updates since then), you must explicitly state that master discs (CDs or DVDs) for that software will be included, as an indication that you are transferring the original installation media and the end-user license (EULA) to the other party. This rule is strictly enforced.
2. You may not avoid this rule by claiming that software or music is to be erased by the other party or that it is for "testing purposes only".
3. If you mention currently installed music, your post may be edited or your thread closed or deleted.
4. If you mention currently installed commercial software (e.g., Final Cut Pro, MS Office or a new, more recent O.S.) and do not mention the master discs, your post may be edited or your thread closed or deleted. When you leave it ambiguous, you do not get the benefit of the doubt.

They say that it is strictly enforced and usually a moderator will post something or contact to you if thats not the case

ahh, I definitely didn't know that. I knew the marketplace didn't allow you to sell hardware with software installed unless you were including the disks, but I figured all was okay that he was including the Tiger DVD.

I'm not a moderator, but I think the policy means this: There must be discs / media and licenses for all software provided. That doesn't mean the OP cannot sell this here. It means that he/she should only include software for which media and licenses are being included. In this case, the computer should not contain or be advertised to contain (which it isn't now) any software besides Tiger.

yes...i would guess that all that would have to be done would be the uninstalling of everything but the basic OS., if you work out a deal and you can, see if your local apple store will restore the computer for you, they did it for me for free once, that would make sure that you don't violate any of the marketplace rules.

The last three iMac G5/1.6's that sold on eBay went for $600, 700, and 765 (all exclusive of shipping). There were a large number that didn't meet reserve at $600, although many of them seem to be from the same seller. I would guess you are likely to get around $750 shipped on eBay, which would put you at around $650-700 shipped on a private sale.

600-650?

It's hard to tell these days.

If you put it up on eBay you'd get more than you'd get here. People are more informed of the latest Apple Products around here.

good point. to just joe blow out there a 1.6 G5 imac looks alot like the new C2D imacs, and most ebayers wouldnt know the difference between a PPC and intel chip. ebay would probably be your best route. if you do come up with an asking price, i might be interested.

ive also got a few macs, both laptops and desktops, i would be offering to trade for your imac if you were interested. post a price, let me know.
